Anthology - The Twilight Zone, Science Fiction Theatre, and Sci-Fi Podcast
Podcast host Matt Hurt (Obsessive Viewer Podcasts) loves science fiction. Yet, he has never seen The Twilight Zone. Anthology is his attempt to rectify that and broaden his sci-fi horizons. Join him as each week, Matt shares his first impressions, analysis, and overall thoughts on episodes of Rod Serling’s iconic series in chronological order. He also pairs each review with a non-spoiler review of an episode of Science Fiction Theatre, a sci-fi anthology series hosted by Truman Bradley from 1955. In bonus episode series, Matt covers each episode of modern sci-fi anthology series such as Black Mirror, Philip K. Dick’s Electric Dreams, Hulu’s Dimension 404, and (of course) CBS All-Access’ modern revival of The Twilight Zone produced and hosted by Jordan Peele. Proudly presented by ObsessiveViewer.com.
Thoughtful Stuff

Discovered this looking for Black Mirror recaps, and have enjoyed the handful of eps I’ve heard. I’m also a Twilight Zone fan as it turns out, so looking forward to listening Matt’s TZ rundowns after I finish with the Black Mirror bonus eps.
Great concept Poor execution

Great concept, bad execution. Host gets too worried about ‘bonus reviews’. Season one of the Twilight Zone had 36 episodes, season two 29. Half of the podcast episodes through season two of the podcast review are bonus reviews, not counting the bonus reviews at the end of regular episodes. Eventually, turned into a frame by frame description of whatever show is being reviewed. There are times the opening and/or closing narration has been inserted into the podcast, after it has been played the host stumbles through reading it back. (Why? We just heard it!) Host ‘umms’ and ‘ahhs’ his way through episodes. There is also a lot of ‘oh I should know this…’ makes me think there is not a lot of preparation and no editing. Multiple episodes he says “I’ll have to edit that out” and it’s still in the episode. Sounds to me like very little mixing or mastering. Once again great concept but gets derailed very quickly.

I think Matt and this podcast are terrific. I love the added trivia, the perspective of a first time viewer and the connections drawn between episodes and culture at large. I am totally inspired to watch all the other shows and movies included here as bonuses. Keep it up, Matt! You have a big fan here!
