Canadian cartoonist Elaine M Will joins our two comics aficionados to discuss Craig Thompson’s autobiographical “Blankets.” The graphic novel is a coming of age story, following Thompson from childhood through first love (and heartbreak) to adulthood. Along the way, he wrestles with his faith and devotion to his art. It’s a deeply personal and affecting book.
Our guest, Elaine M Will, shares how “Blankets” influenced her own work, especially in her coming of age breakthrough graphic novel, “Look Straight Ahead.” Elaine has also adapted and illustrated the graphic novel “Dustship Glory” and was the colourist for “The Burning Black,” written by our former guest (and Elaine’s husband), Mark Allard-Will.
