Most Notorious! A True Crime History Podcast

Okay, so I’ve been a fan of this most excellent podcast and its host for a long time, and I’m just now writing a review - shame on me - but Erik Rivenes knows how to interview an author right. Unlike many interviewers who like to hear themselves talk, Erik gives the guest permission to take center stage. Almost all of the interviews I’ve listened to are fascinating because the guest gets to tell us why his or her book has demanded their passion, and that never disappoints. Here’s how you know that Erik is an expert interviewer: time and time again, I’ve heard the guest tell him that his question was never asked before, or shows he’s been listening, or is very insightful. That happens all the time. Yay you, Erik!

I’ve listened to Most Notorious for years now. Over and over and over authors have said to Erik, “Good question!” or “You’ve obviously read the book!” Erik comes to his interviews totally prepared. If you are looking for a rollicking good story every time out of the block, smartly told, Erik is your man. Gangsters, pirates, cowboys, sheisters, they are all here. Also, if you enjoy reading true crime, Erik will point you on the direction of the best books out there.

Erik is one of the best hosts and interviewers I listen to. His guests have, without exception, written compelling historical true crime books. I’m not sure if all authors are as articulate and interesting as Erik’s guests are, but his careful preparation for each interview produces consistently seamless narratives. I wish I could give 6 stars!

I love this show. Eric is so well prepared and asks amazing questions. I noticed how the authors really appreciate the time he takes at not just reading the book but really understanding and connecting to it. One of my favorite ways to disconnect. You need to be a listener!
