Dr. Armijo-Olivo is the lead of the S-TEAM (STrengthening Evidence-based Physiotherapy And Musculoskeletal care) research program. She completed her Bachelor of Sciences in physiotherapy at the Pontifical University Catholic of Chile, Chile. She performed her MScPT and a PhD in Rehabilitation Sciences from the University of Alberta, Canada. She also performed two postdoctoral fellowships: one in evidence-based practice, clinical epidemiology, and knowledge synthesis and another in musculoskeletal disorders. She is an adjunct Professor in the Faculties of Rehabilitation Medicine and Medicine and Dentistry at the University of Alberta and is a member of the methodological committee of Cochrane Rehabilitation.     💭”Risk factors for CRPS include being female and postmenopausal, having a fracture of the distal radius, and having a complex fracture of the ankle.’’ - Dr Tracey Pons Our guest, Dr Tracey Pons PhD (Health Science, UOtago) MHealSc (distinction,  UOtago), PGDipHealSc (distinction,  UOtago), BSc Physio, MNZSP, MPNZ, MIASP was the first registered Physiotherapy Pain Specialist in New Zealand. This designation was awarded in 2016. She works in private physiotherapy practice in Kaiapoi, North Canterbury. With the University of Otago, she was awarded with distinctions; a Post Graduate Diploma in Health Sciences endorsed in Musculoskeletal Management in 2008; later a Master of Health Sciences, in 2012. She was awarded her PhD in 2019. Tracey has a passionate commitment to understanding persistent pain, including complex regional pain syndrome; how pain interacts with mental health; to improve well-being in the context of persistent pain; and to encourage the collaboration of physiotherapists and the broader interdisciplinary team in the management of pain. MDT is an Associate Professor in the Doctor of Physical Therapy program at the University of St. Augustine for Health Sciences in Austin, TX. He teaches gross anatomy to first-year physiotherapy students and maintains a clinical practice that applies MDT to a sports population. Allan graduated with a B.Sc.PT from Queen’s University (Canada) in 1988 and completed his DPT at the College of St. Scholastica (MN) in 2016. A McKenzie Diplomat, he also runs a clinical practice specializing in MDT for sports populations. Dr. Besselink holds a Ph.D. in Education, with research focused on cognitive structure, knowledge organization, and competency-based education.     💭’’There are three things we want to get in place first in terms of training: consistency, good recovery (including sleep), and sufficient fueling.’’ - Tom Goom Our guest, Tom Goom is a physiotherapist with over 20 years of experience and a very keen runner! He graduated with a BSc (Hons) degree in 2002 and since then has worked in clinics in the UK and overseas. His career started in Winchester where he worked in the NHS and developed a specific interest in lower limb rehab and joined the physio team at a semi-professional football club. Following the Tsunami in 2004 Tom travelled to Sri Lanka and did voluntary physiotherapy work in a hospital, teaching local staff, treating patients and fundraising for new equipment. Tom returned to the UK in 2006 and started working in Brighton as a senior physiotherapist. His interest in rehab continued to grow and he ran lower limb and spinal rehab groups as well a chronic pain programme. Tom started RunningPhysio in March 2012 to help those training for marathons that spring, since then it’s developed into a resource used by runners and clinicians all over the world. Tom has written for Running Fitness, Men’s Running UK, and the British Journal of Sports Medicine blog. His research in proximal hamstring tendinopathy has been published in the prestigious Journal of Orthopaedic and Sports Physical Therapy. Originally from Brisbane, Dr. Ryan undertook his PhD in Melbourne and lived there for 10 years before returning home to Queensland. Prior to moving to Melbourne, Ryan held various roles with the Queensland Academy of Sport Mens Football Program, Brisbane Strikers and Brisbane Roar. While in Melbourne he had roles with Melbourne Victory and Western United. During his 12 years in elite sport, Ryan has been mainly working on athlete injury prevention and rehabilitation as well as facets of strength and conditioning. Ryan completed his PhD at the Australian Catholic University in 2016, focusing on factors which are associated with an increased likelihood of injury and potential interventions to mitigate these risks. He is also a Level 2 Strength and Conditioning Coach with the Australian Strength & Conditioning Association.
