#123: How I finally stopped dieting and transformed my relationship with food

If you’ve ever felt trapped in the endless cycle of dieting—starting every Monday, feeling like you’ve failed by Friday, and promising yourself you’ll "do better" next week—you’re not alone. I spent years in this cycle, believing that once I hit a certain weight, I’d finally feel confident, happy, and worthy. But that moment never came. In this episode, I’m sharing how I finally stopped dieting for good and built a way of eating that supports my long-term health and happiness. This is not about why diets don’t work (we’ve covered that before!)—it’s about what actually helped me break free, shift my mindset, and embrace food in a way that fuels both my body and my life. If you’re ready to stop the dieting cycle and find a more sustainable, empowering way to approach food, this episode is for you! The key talking points in this episode are: The endless dieting cycle – how I spent years stuck in a loop of restriction, guilt, and frustration. Why my self-worth is no longer tied to my weight. The role of food beyond weight loss. Breaking the emotional connection to food to shift away from how I used food for comfort, stress relief, and reward. The truth about weight and health. What I do now instead of dieting – how I nourish my body in a way that feels good and supports my future self. How you can start breaking free from dieting today. #121: Why your self-worth matters more than ever in midlife and menopause

Do you believe that you are valuable? It’s a question not many of us ever ask ourselves, but one we absolutely should be, and one we should always be able to answer with: “Absolutely” I’m going deep today with guest DeDee Cai about the critical importance of self-worth and its impact on women's lives. DeDee shares her personal journey of discovering her self-worth, the challenges she faced, and the transformative power of self-care. We discuss the cultural influences on self-worth, the definition of success, and the connection between wealth and self-worth, and what true net-worth really means. As always, our episodes are created to help you build strong health so that you can live a full, vibrant and long life. This episode brings you a topic that I believe is fundamental in achieving this because if we don’t value ourselves, whatever it is we’re trying to change to live this full and joyful life, we’re never going to achieve the happiness we desire. In our conversation we share: What self-worth is and why it is fundamental to building a life you deem successful and happy.  The impact that self-worth has on all areas of life, including your relationships. How to reflect on your own self-worth and take proactive steps towards personal empowerment and fulfilment. The intricate relationship between self-worth, personal growth, and financial mindset. Why wealth should be viewed as an internal state rather than external possessions. Why so many women often live apologetically, undermining their self-worth.  The role of self-care routines in enhancing your self-worth.  Understanding that growth is a continuous journey, not an overnight change. The importance of embracing emotions, recognising self-sabotage, and taking actionable steps towards self-improvement. Practical advice on how to enhance self-worth through physical movement, emotional engagement, and self-care practices. About DeDee: Dedee Cai is founder and a performance coach of FIT TO PROFIT, a company that utilises psychology, cognitive science, holistic wellness to help entrepreneurs get holistically fit to attain peak level of performance in their life and businesses. Did you know that there are almost 10 million women in the UK with some form of bladder problem and that an estimated 1in 4 women in the UK are regularly incontinent? I’m joined by guest expert Nikki Scott to delve into the critical topic of pelvic floor health, discussing its importance for women of all ages. We discuss how the healthcare system often addresses symptoms rather than root causes, particularly in women's health issues like incontinence and pelvic floor dysfunction. This is an area of women’s health that is so important to be better educated about so that we can all build strong pelvic floor health to ensure we can live the full, healthy life we want for ourselves. To get your started, we’re exploring daily habits that can support pelvic health, focusing on the mind-body connection, pelvic floor health, and the importance of breath work. It’s time to reduce the stigma surrounding pelvic floor issues, and create much needed awareness. In our conversation we talk about: Empowering women with knowledge and practical strategies to maintain their pelvic health throughout their lives. That women are suffering in silence due to the stigma associated with incontinence and other bladder problems. Future proofing your health versus reacting when something is wrong. How the healthcare system often addresses symptoms rather than root causes, particularly in women's health issues like incontinence and pelvic floor dysfunction. That education on pelvic health is lacking in society. The impact of menopause on pelvic health and increase in pelvic floor dysfunction. The contrast between traditional Kegel exercises and the more holistic approach of Hypopressives. Poor posture negatively impacting pelvic floor health. How to get started building daily habits to significantly impact your pelvic health. The massage support video reference in the episode: Watch it here About Nikki: Nikki has been a health and fitness coach since 2009., specialising in women’s health and rehab back to exercise using Hypopressives. Nikki ran her own bootcamp business as well as a successful buggy version for new Mums and in 2013 discovered the power of a holistic approach using Hypopressives. She struggled for over 10 years with “Leaking” and within just 3 months of doing Hypopressives her incontinence was gone. #118: Overcoming guilt and making time for exercise

Do you struggle to fit in exercise? Are you telling yourself there’s never enough time to exercise? Not having time to go to the gym or get in a run is a common problem many women have when they think about wanting to improve their fitness. Doing it all and doing stuff for everybody else is much more important than you taking time for yourself to workout. I’m joined by Lucy-Anne Carney who is sharing her personal story of transformation from a demanding corporate career to becoming a bodybuilder, and what it taught her about having a clear goal and prioritising making it happen. Lucy now uses what she learned to help other women balance motherhood and their wellbeing through regular exercise. The conversation explores the societal pressures and responsibilities that hold women back from prioritising their own health and wellbeing, and offers tips on building habits and overcoming guilt. Lucy encourages you to prioritise movement for your future self and your children, and to do so by building healthy habits that are sustainable in the long term. In our conversation today we talk about: Incorporating movement and exercise into our lives, even with demanding careers and family responsibilities. The societal pressures and responsibilities often hold women back from prioritising their own health and wellbeing. How building habits and overcoming guilt are key to making time for exercise. Movement is key to maintaining good health and longevity. Knowing that your habits will teach your children the value of taking care of themselves. Learning how to prioritise and delegate in your family to make time for exercise and self-care. Knowing your why and staying committed to your goals can help you resist temptations and stay on track. Lucy’s 3 tips to make time for exercise through meal prepping, planning family meals, and finding ways to move that you enjoy. About Lucy-Anne: Lucy-Anne is an online fitness and nutrition coach specialising in helping people lose weight and build muscle without sacrificing balance in their lives.
