    223. Communication Tools for Satisfying Relationships

Corey Costanzo is the Co-Owner of Asheville’s Still Point Wellness Spa, a licensed addiction counselor, trauma specialist, licensed massage therapist, master didgeridoo player, colleague, and my good friend. In this episode, Corey and I have a conversation about healthy communication tools. Most of us didn’t learn healthy ways of communicating and resolving conflict in our families. Some families never talk about problems, while others might be explosive. We bring these styles into our relationships thinking they are normal and then feel sad and angry when they engender a negative response. Coret and I share what tools use in our personal relationships as well as those that we help guide our clients.   Codependency Codependency: Ways to Overcome Aftermath of a Fight of a Regrettable Incident Control Issues Understanding the Shame Cycle Allowing Influence from Your Partner Emotional Regulation Connect with Corey Costanzo: Still Point Wellness Still Point Wellness on Instagram Still Point Wellness on Facebook Still Point Wellness on Pinterest Corey Costanzo on LinkedIn Email: Corey@stillpointwell.com Let’s Talk About It! 222. Heartshare: My Experience with Hurricane Helene and the Importance Good Relationships

In this solocast I talk about my recent experience and observations during Hurricane Helene’s devastation that hit Western North Carolina and the Southeast. For those of you not local, Hurricane Helene swept through the Appalachian mountains, bringing two days of relentless rain (32 inches at my house) and strong winds. The storm saturated the earth, causing historic flooding and leaving unimaginable damage and devastation in its wake. Since September 29th, the destruction of our community has left many devasted with unimaginable loss. In the wake of this tragedy, there was and is beauty. The beauty of communities far and wide coming to aid and help one another. It has been so heartwarming to see humans helping other humans so selflessly. It solidified my deep belief in creating and fostering good, close, and caring relationships within our communities and neighborhoods. 219. Men, Emotions and Relationships

Jared Hinton M.A, M.A.T, LCMHC is a psychotherapist in private practice in Asheville, NC. Jared is a husband, father, and a person in long-term recovery. His work focuses on helping individuals and couples heal from patterns of ancestral, familial, and relational trauma. Jared is a graduate of Naropa University's Contemplative and Buddhist Psychology program and a student of the Appalachian Gestalt Institute in Asheville. In this episode, Jared and I have a conversation about the challenges men face in having healthy relationships. We talk about how men can save relationships by learning vulnerability and that vulnerability is a great strength. We point out that many men experience intense emotions but, lack the training and support to make sense of those feelings. Men deserve to be seen, and their emotions validated, without their masculinity being called into question.
