    156. What We’ve Learned, and a Farewell For Now

    After 3 years of putting out a weekly podcast, we have learned so much!     155. Managing Emotional Pain

    You’ve likely heard the saying “pain is inevitable, but misery is optional.” This is so true when it comes to emotional work. We magnify negative emotion and make ourselves miserable when we resist feeling it. Accepting and allowing for negative emotion as a natural part of the human experience greatly diminishes misery and, as a bonus, we are able to move through the pain more quickly and easily.     Emotional dependence is a state of mind which we have all experienced at some point. It’s when your mind is full of uncertainty, you are indecisive, other people manipulate you and affect you in some way (usually negative), you let everyone treat you the way they want, and you feel vulnerable, dependent, weak and confused.
