18: Storming the SpaceBus w/ Meteorologist Beth Carpenter
Storms and “extreme weather” can be super scary - but what are the ingredients that cook up a tornado or a thunderstorm? Meteorologist Beth Carpenter shows Albie and Laika how a storm gets made!
Beth has a B.S in Professional Meteorology and Climatology from Ball State University, with a minor in Geographic Information Systems. She became interested in studying meteorology after a tornado ripped through the back yard of her family's Race Day weekend cookout in 2004. Beth has been storm chasing for 6 years and has 5 years of forecasting experience. She co-founded her own private meteorological consulting company, Thermodynamic Solutions LLC ("TDS Weather"), in 2016 which provides customized weather forecasts to various industries including snow removal and landscaping, hospitals, minor league baseball, NFL training camps, outdoor event venues, farmers, sled dog teams, and more. Beth also gives weather-related talks at elementary schools each year, discussing storm development, storm chasing, and weather safety. Some of her non-weather-related hobbies include photography, conducting paranormal investigations, golfing, fishing, and traveling.
