When Your Language allows for discovery, creativity, curiosity and exploration, connection is born. Connected kids are courageous and listen better. Connected kids have fewer meltdowns. Listen in to learn empowering strategies for teaching and listening! Hello, my name is Dinalynn Rosenbush, mom, grandma, Speech Language Pathologist of over 30 years. I’ve worked with hundreds of children with speech & language delays and navigated single parenthood. Through training and my own struggles, I learned to use specific language in specific ways that build connection. Our communication is not only our words, but it is the feeling our children have when we speak with them. Let’s create a home where exploration is welcomed, mistakes are stepping stones, and practice is expected. When kids believe you are on their team, eventually, they join your team! Because, what works for speech and language disabled children, simply works! I believe all parents should have access to these skills, not just specialists. It is my hope to give small nuggets of information in each episode to build your communication toolbox. 227 Child Not Doing As Told? Change Their Response With Concept Words

Hey Friends~  When we talk to our kids, we use words that represent whole concepts all the time.  We do it so spontaneously that it’s difficult to communicate without using such words.  When our kids don’t have a good repertoire of concept - type words, it makes it difficult for them to do as told, express themselves, or deliver a message, accurately.   Today we discuss what concept words are, why they are important  AND what you can do to increase understanding at home!  This is  the fun part!  You don’t need flashcards. You don’t need apps. You already have everything you need to teach these words—just by playing, talking, and living life with your child.  I am going to call attention to what you already have and know… so that you can be intentional when you are teaching them.  Always cheering you on!  Dinalynn CONTACT the Host, Dinalynn:  hello@thelanguageofplay.com   YOUR NEXT STEPS:   Register for Webinar: "Beyond Obedience: Unveiling the Power of Listening in Kids"  https://www.thelanguageofplay.com/kids-beyond-obedience-webinar   Sign up for the Newsletter:  https://dinalynnr.systeme.io/newsletter-optin 5 Ways To Get Your Kids To Listen Better: https://dinalynnr.systeme.io/7ca5ce43-d436ea91 21 Days of Encouragement:  https://dinalynnr.systeme.io/1-21signup To discuss working together:  https://calendly.com/hello-play/strategy-session For Workshops, Speaking Events, or Partnerships conversations, schedule a call: https://calendly.com/hello-play/discovery-session  or email me at: hello@thelanguageofplay.com   A BIG THANK YOU TO OUR SPONSOR!   The Center for Play & Exploration: Click here to set up a conversation with Director Dave Bindewald to help you generate new ideas and practices in your parenting, work, and life.
