The 1000 Hours Outside Podcast
Childhood is finite at just shy of 9.5 million minutes. We only get one shot at it. One of the biggest decisions we make is how we will use that time. Research has confirmed time and time again that what children are naturally and unabashedly drawn to, unrestricted outside play, contributes extensively to every area of childhood development. The importance here cannot be understated. Every year we aim to match nature time with the average amount of American kid screen time (which is currently 1200 hours per year). Have a goal. Track your time outside. Take back childhood. Inspire others.

Life changing!

This podcast has literally changed my life for the better! Not only is Ginny funny and smart, she’s an encourager. I started listening to the show because I wanted to learn more ways to get my family outside, but I have learned about so many other things including health and nutrition, child psychology, and homeschooling. This show has been such a blessing to me. Listen, and it will bless you too!
Slowly Turning to Junk Science
2 ngày trước
I found this podcast and the 1000 hour outside movement during my first pregnancy and fell in love. It truly influenced how I parent and I found great support in Ginny’s acknowledgement that parenting can be overwhelming and getting outside can benefit the whole family. Her podcast reminded me to slow down and to cherish the small adventures. However, in the past year, you can feel some of her guests toe-ing the line in pushing their political or personal beliefs. Recently there’s been remarks about vaccines, gender identity, etc. I feel like it’s starting to come away from giving parents ideas to get their kids outside to embracing pseudoscience and political topics. Can we please bring back “Roots, Shoots, Buckets, and Boots” and less “I cured my cancer with healthy eating.”
