21: How Community Activism Can Inspire Regenerative Work

Today, I invite you to join me in exploring what community activism can teach us about regenerative work. Over the past couple of years, I’ve been part of a local campaign to save a group of mature trees in my small town. It’s been an experience filled with both grief and hope—and it’s taught me some unexpected lessons about what it means to work regeneratively. Typically when we think about work, we focus on individual effort and outcomes. But what if work could also be about coming together, about collaboration and shared purpose? In this episode, I reflect on how our campaign, without formal structures or hierarchies, has thrived through self-motivation, intergenerational collaboration, and a deep connection to something bigger than ourselves. I also share a mindset shift around the biggest challenge most of us face when pursuing regenerative work: making money. That's where so many of us get stuck. What if we redefined work not just as the thing that earns us money, but as any effort we put into making a positive impact? How might that open up new possibilities for how you engage with your community, nature, and your own sense of purpose? If you’re feeling the weight of corporate influence or struggling to find meaning in your current career, I hope this episode inspires you to think differently about what work can be. Tune in, reflect on your own definition of work, and if you are interested in co-creating a Regenerative Worklife community, you can reach me at alisa@regenerativeworklife.com. 20: Want to Work Sustainably? Shift Your Focus from WHAT to HOW

In this episode, I invite you to explore a different way of thinking about sustainable work—one that focuses not just on what we do, but on how we approach it. Too often, we focus on the labels, the tasks, the job titles, and the outcomes. But if the way we work leaves us drained, disconnected, and constantly pushing for more, can we truly call it sustainable? I’ll share my personal journey of breaking free from corporate conditioning and how I’ve been learning to work regeneratively—with joy, rest, and connection at the center. I also offer you a playful challenge: what if you let go of the need to figure out exactly what your work should be and instead focused on how you show up every day? I’ll suggest a few simple but powerful regenerative habits you can try, whether you work for yourself or in a more traditional environment. These habits are about creating space for creativity, reflection, and life-giving work—a stark contrast to the constant corporate drive for efficiency and output. If you’re feeling stuck in your career or craving a deeper connection to nature, community, and purpose, this episode might just offer the shift in perspective you need. Tune in, try a regenerative habit, and let me know how it goes—I’d love to hear from you! 18: Find Your Focus, Get Your Hands Dirty, Create Things That Matter (Regenerative Sticking Point with Cloé)

Many people working in corporate sustainability—like Cloé—feel deeply frustrated by the gap between their desire to create meaningful change and the reality of their work. They’re passionate about addressing challenges like climate change, fostering stronger communities, and reconnecting with nature, but often find themselves stuck, overthinking the “perfect” career path. The result? No action, and no impact. In this episode, I sit down with Cloé to explore how to break free from that paralysis and start making tangible progress toward a career that matters. Together, we discuss: Why searching for the “perfect option” can keep you stuck. How to shift from overthinking to taking small, actionable steps forward. The power of guiding questions like “What brings me joy?” and “What am I most likely to move forward with?” How small, hands-on experiments—like growing mushrooms in your shoe cupboard—can spark creativity, clarity, and confidence. Cloé’s journey highlights how aligning with your values—whether through community, nature, or impact-driven projects—can help you regain focus and build momentum. Progress doesn’t require perfection; sometimes, the best way forward is simply to get your hands dirty and see what grows. Whether you’re feeling stuck, doubting your impact, or unsure where to start, this episode will inspire you to take meaningful action toward a regenerative, sustainable career.
