Disappointed

I just discovered this podcast and decided to give their “New Drugs of 2024” episode a listen, since I thought it would be the most beneficial and contain the most information in one episode. Anyways, I wanted to like it and at first, I did. Until, they ‘discussed’ (more like glazed over) the newest naloxone product, Rezenopy. I know naloxone is not a novel drug of any means, but the impact it has had on the OUD patient population has been huge and life-changing for many. Maybe these guys do not live in or have never learned in an environment where the opioid epidemic hit the hardest (and still continues to ravage these communities), but the suggested apparent lack of care for these patients was extremely disappointing to listen to. The speaker admitted he only conducted a cursory search and also admitted (embarrassingly), that he had not even looked at a picture of the new drug delivery device and he does not know how this new device is any different than Narcan, hinting at the unimportance of it. A simple google search or glance at the PI will immediately tell you that the dose of Rezenopy is 10mg compared to that of the 4mg Narcan nasal spray. I understand that as medical professionals we are all very aware of the MOA of naloxone and how/when to administer it, but the lack of any interest at all compared to the lengthy discussions of every other drug mentioned in this episode, is disappointing and honestly, arrogant. What was the point of even including it in the discussion if the most you talked about was the name of it? Personally, if I was discussing this topic on a podcast, I would do my due diligence to look into all the drugs I would be educating the audience on, as that is the point of this podcast, right? I can say I stopped the podcast and do not plan to listen to anymore episodes, unfortunately. I am always looking for new Pharmacy podcasts to learn from and relate to, but this one did not make a good first impression.
Smart AND funny??
