    28. "Make Me Proud..." more harm than good?

    Have you ever used the phrase “Make me Proud?” In this episode, we shed some light on how and why saying “Make me Proud” could be more hurtful than it is encouraging. How should we support our kids and show them we are always proud of them, it is not something they have to "earn" from us. Has anyone ever told you to make them proud?     24. Mental Health, Dad It's Ok to Not Be Ok

    Feeling out of sorts? Dads, we know the feeling. Caring for your mental health is vital. As a parent, it is hard finding time for ourselves. We have limited time and energy — resources that have only shrunk since the pandemic started. It is important to know, we all have our own forms of struggles. One of the toughest struggles people face is with their own Mental Health.  May is Mental Health Awareness month so Bearded_Brian and ZacktheGirlDad want to help bring that awareness to the Dynasty of Dads Community.  Bearded_Brian and ZacktheGirlDad want everyone who struggles with any form of Mental Health to know they are not alone.     What role does watching sports play in your household? Do you watch sports with your kids? Let’s take a break from parenting advice and take some time to talk dad personal hobbies or interests when not taking care of our kids. In this new segment, Dad’s Unwind, we explore the things us dads like to do in our freetime. Tonight, let’s talk football. Some of my fondest memories growing up was watching football with my dad. Did you watch a lot of sports in your family growing up?  The NFL Draft just happened. That means pre-season will be here before we know it. What role does watching sports play in your household? Do you watch sports with your kids?    Bearded_Brian and ZacktheGirlDad both hope their favorite teams will be able to redeem themselves this year.     22: The Secret Behind Enjoying Household Chores.

    Let’s be honest…doing chores or trying to get your kids to clean is the pits! If you find yourself at your wits' end with cleaning up mess after mess after mess with your kids, try one of these fun games to make cleaning up less of a chore. On this Dynasty of Dads podcast episode, we want to discuss ways to get our kids (and us parents) more involved, and have fun while doing so. Giving kids household chores is a great way to teach them responsibility while also keeping your home clean and organized. The only problem is that it can be tough to motivate the children to perform their chores on a regular basis. If you are struggling to convince your kids to do their assignments, then you need to make it fun and exciting for them.   Whether you use Chore Competition Charts, make it a race, sing or dance while doing so, any strategy is helpful to make household responsibilities more fun. Maintaining a clean house is often quite difficult when you have children, but that does not have to be the case. Just get the kids interested in the chores by turning them into games. If they are having fun, then they will not even realize they are cleaning and organizing the house.
