260 - Exploring ReSound Vivia Hearing Aids: AI-Powered Sound, Bluetooth LE Audio, and More

GN’s new ReSound Vivia hearing aids integrate advanced AI to deliver a more adaptive and personalized listening experience. The devices leverage a deep neural network (DNN) trained on 13.5 million spoken sentences, enabling it to differentiate speech from background noise more effectively than previous models. Alongside ReSound Vivia, GN also launched ReSound Savi, a new essentials range featuring Bluetooth LE Audio and Auracast™ capabilities for expanded accessibility and connectivity. To gain deeper insights into these innovations, Andrew Bellavia and Shari Eberts interviewed Laurel Christensen, Chief Audiology Officer at GN, and Andrew Dittberner, Chief Technology Officer. The discussion highlighted ReSound Vivia’s Intelligent Focus feature, which allows users to direct their attention more naturally in noisy environments, mimicking the brain’s ability to process sound. This advancement marks a shift from traditional directional microphones and noise reduction filters to a more intuitive AI-driven listening experience. In addition to speech enhancement, both ReSound Vivia and ReSound Savi integrate Auracast™ broadcast audio, a next-generation Bluetooth feature that allows users to connect to public audio sources in venues such as airports, theaters, and conference centers. GN has also introduced the world’s first app-integrated Auracast Assistant, simplifying access to streaming audio.
