Stephen Kosslyn, Ph.D., previously was the Founding Dean and Chief Academic Officer at Minerva University. Before that, he was the director of the Center for Advanced Study in the Behavioral Sciences and Professor of Psychology at Stanford University. Prior to that, he was chair of the Department of Psychology, Dean of Social Science, and Lindsley Professor of Psychology at Harvard University. He also served as co-director of the Mind of the Market Lab at Harvard Business School and was on the staff of the Neurology department at Mass. General Hospital.
His research has focused primarily on visual cognition and the science of learning; he has authored or coauthored 16 books and over 350 papers on these topics. He has received various awards, including the National Academy of Sciences Initiatives in Research Award, a Guggenheim Fellowship, the J-L. Signoret Prize (France), and honorary Doctorates from the University of Caen, the University of Paris Descartes, and the University of Bern (Switzerland). He was elected to Academia Rodinensis pro Remediatione (Switzerland), the Society of Experimental Psychologists, and the American Academy of Arts and Sciences.
