Today’s episode is with Guy Sylvester. Guy has been pioneering the lab testing space since the 1980’s. He started his journey as a bench chemist and then went on to found Absolute Resource Associates which has grown to be the biggest lab in New Hampshire that tests air, water, and soil. Most recently, he has started CATLAB, a cannabis testing lab in southern Maine. Guy runs an honest business that is centered around integrity and transparency and I am glad that someone with his ethics is helping to run this space.
During the episode we talk about the current best practices for testing of mold, pesticides, heavy metals and microbials. We discuss the difference between the testing requirements between the medical and adult use markets. Specifically we talk about the software system, metrc, and the barriers to use. We deep dive into the study that was commissioned by OCP and whether selection bias was a problem with the results. We both agree that keeping people safe is the number one priority and that self-regulation could be a great path forward.
This was an awesome episode for those looking to get deeper into how our world is being kept safe through testing.
