#36. End of Year Compilation Episode

In this special year-end compilation episode of ‘Make Movement Matter’, we celebrate the transformative power of movement with highlights from some inspiring conversations earlier this year. From the science of why our brains are wired to move, to the emotional healing found in nature and community, this episode shows the profound ways movement can uplift our bodies, minds, and spirits. Whether it’s discovering the joy of cold-water swimming, finding peace through paddleboarding, or making small everyday adjustments that spark joy, these clips remind us that movement is so much more than fitness—it’s a gift we give ourselves for better health, happiness, and connection. Featuring wisdom from Caroline Williams, Charlotte Marriott, Sian Richardson, Katie Maggs, and Jo Moseley, this episode is an invitation to reflect on how movement has shaped your life and to step into the new year with purpose and joy. Each story serves as a powerful reminder that movement is accessible to everyone, whether it’s a simple walk or a bigger personal journey.  Let’s continue to embrace movement together and make it matter in our lives and communities.Wishing you lots of happy times moving over the festive break, thanks for listening and and I can’t wait to share more great conversations in 2025! #30. Replacing metrics with the ‘Power’ of bananas for true self-care with Elaine Hart & Becky Yeoman

Who knew the power a mere banana could have on your wellbeing! However this is not a discussion about nutrition. Instead, it’s about encouraging us to see past the ‘movement metrics’ we can so easily get caught up in, and helping us look inward to notice how moving, and particularly moving together, makes us feel in our bodies and minds and therefore benefits our lives.  Elaine Hart is the self-named ‘Chief Banana Officer’ of ‘Power’ - an experience she set up in order to share her love of spinning, but that grew to include running, walking and now the wonderful system of Tai Chi, taught by the ‘Banana Master of Yin’, Becky Yeoman. In this conversation we talk about how Power came about, why they chose to use bananas as a tool to help people nourish themselves through movement and community, and the brilliantly inclusive experiences they’ve created.  You’re sure to see bananas in a different light from this day forward!
