41. My Escort Past: Money & Shame

Today, I'll continue from where we left off in our last discussion about cam girls, responding to an insightful email that raised questions about the digital transformation of intimacy.

In today's episode, I'll share why, despite the apparent risks, I felt safer working privately as an escort than as a public performer in strip clubs. Although illusory control over my environment, this sense of safety was crucial for me. I'll explore how this need for privacy influenced my decision to leave the more visible world of stripping for the discreet and autonomous life of an escort.

We'll also look at the financial motivations behind my choices, how dealing with shame and the pursuit of independence propelled me forward, and the complex dynamics within the escort business. This includes the often overlooked aspect of financial exploitation by partners—how boyfriends or pimps can manipulate both the worker and the client.
