Drs. Michael Rahe and Rachel Derscheid: Swine Respiratory Diseases | Ep. 44

The Swine Health Blackbelt Podcast

You know what they say: not everything is as it seems... That's especially true for diagnosing respiratory diseases in swine: interpretation can be quite a challenge. That is because a respiratory infection may look like a specific disease, but this does not mean we are going to get that diagnosis once we do a PCR. For example, producers and veterinarians are used to seeing post-weaning respiratory diseases with influenza clinical signs; still, we may not get PCR-positive results for influenza in those situations. With that in mind, I talk with Drs. Michael Rahe and Rachel Derscheid about such respiratory issues, especially related to Porcine Astroviruses.
