The Filipino Garage - KuyaChris & Friends - A Filipino American Perspective
Through conversations with artists and community members, we're spreading positivity, thoughts, music, and art—all through a Filipino American perspective. Based out of Daly City—the Pinoy Capital of the United States—the goal is to empower the FilAm community and Pinays / Pinoys throughout the world by profiling awesome people and spreading good vibes. This is a mix of personal journals, interviews, recordings, and whatever can be created. Hope you enjoy!
Wonderful

I'm not really sure why this show doesn't get the same kind of attention as others, but I hope it changes seeing as this was probably the first Filipino podcast ever produced. This has been a god-send to a filipino-american starved for the truth and facts that my American education tried to hide.
New listener!

Hey Kuya Chris. New listener here. Am From Bakersfield also (I heard your Bakersfield guest speaker) I can agree to some of his context - it is populated with a mixed culture - mostly whites due to the oil fields. I can’t believe how little did he know of the south central part of Cali. Bruh, Delano is riddled with Filipinos and is only 30 miles north of Bako (it’s what we call Bakersfield). I was born in Bakersfield and raised in Delano/Bakersfield/S. SF/ and Richmond. I can even say that the first PCN was back in 1995 at Delano High School. Back in the 80’s my dad lived in the camps working at the grape fields. He was one of those guys who took part of the protest. My father in law, was the anchor man. He has original pictures of Caesar Chavez. He tells me stories of Manong Larry Itliong. Remembers the old Delano and the first Filipino Hall building where all the farmers would gather around. I wish that kid from Bakersfield reached out further, I could’ve helped him understand a bit more of Bako and it’s surrounding cities. Then I started listening to more of your shows Kuya Chris. I last heard Joseph Magsaysay as an architect designer. I too am working as an architect designer now. I didn’t pursue my architect degree as I fell into electrical engineering as it was more demanding in the oil field world. I’ve been in this male dominant career for about 18 years now. I’ve learned how to not let me talk me down. I’m one of those tough 5’0” pinays. I was also a bgirl back in ‘97! I was able to relate to some of this guy’s work too. After high school and college, I wanted to keep dancing. And within those 18 years in a male dominant career I kept sane by being a Polynesian dancer. Keep up the good work Kuya Chris I’ll be listening to more of your shows while at work. IG: Auntie_Wowee FB: Sheri_Viduya Snap: Kimosawbi_86 (that’s the name of one of my cars!)
