Harold Shipman, also known as "Dr. Death," was a British general practitioner and one of the most prolific serial killers in history. He was convicted in 2000 of murdering 15 of his patients, though estimates suggest he may have killed over 200 people. Shipman used his position as a doctor to administer lethal doses of painkillers to his mostly elderly victims. His crimes were uncovered after suspicions arose over the high number of deaths in his care and a forged will.
