    #12: Connection and True Community Burnout and Belonging The written version of this podcast can be read at https://www.wanderloots.com/recalibrating-12 Last week, we touched on personal knowledge management (PKM) as a way to seek new experiences, make sense of what we have experienced, and share those experiences with others. This week, we are going to continue on the last point, sharing experiences, by moving up to Level 3 of Maslow's Hierarchy. While Maslow structured the hierarchy as a pyramid, with each level requiring satisfaction before moving to the next, there has been a lot of criticism to this rigid hierarchical structure. Many people believe that the needs should be more flexible, allowing for people to be at higher levels without meeting the needs of the lower levels. Some argue that the third level, social connectedness with other humans, is an essential part of survival and thus should be lower on the hierarchy, while others argue that social connectedness is at the core of human behaviour as a whole, permeating through the rest of the needs.     #10: Automating Self-Regulation Learning to Solve Future Problems, Now Before we consider what actions to automate, it is important to ask: what actions should we automate? It's very easy to get lost in the details of automation, trying to automate everything we can, without considering what is actually worth automating. The best way (in my opinion) to determine which tasks are worth automating is to identify the actions in our lives that either (1) take the longest or (2) cause us the most stress (dysregulation). Next, apply the Pareto Principle (80/20 Rule) to see which of these actions are having the greatest impact on our time and stress. The 80/20 rule is that 80% of outputs are caused by 20% of inputs.     #9: Mental Safety From AI-nxiety Learning to Live With AI Continuing on Maslow's Hierarchy Level 2 with Financial Security and Mental Safety from Entries 6-8, this week I am going to touch on artificial intelligence (AI). This topic is massive. It's hard to emphasize how much detail and research goes into truly understanding AI. I have been researching AI for many years, much more seriously since 2020. I still feel as though I am barely scratching the surface. But that's okay. Understanding even some of the basics can provide a solid foundation for understanding the current and future impact of AI. Before we get to the stage of using AI to bolster Financial Security through future-proofing and automation, let's take a few minutes to address the Mental Safety component ✨ The goal of this entry is not to teach you everything about AI, that would be impossible. The goal is to identify a few concepts that will hopefully teach you about why AI is in the news so much lately and help alleviate the "AI-nxiety" that comes from public mass hysteria over change.     #7: Building A Sustainable Creation System Analyzing Natural Self-Expression To Identify Existing Value Last week, we considered how to achieve the seemingly paradoxical combination of financial security and mental safety by looking at Level 2 of Maslow's hierarchy for guidance. To achieve this balance, I proposed two major goals: Generate sufficient income to satisfy my needs (food, debt, mortgage, retirement savings); Structure a habit and task system that enables me to consistently build income to a level that meets my needs without burning myself out.
