6. The Trauma of Gang Members (w/ Meghan Lewis)

Hope for the Hood

Meghan Lewis, MD, works in Surgical Critical Care and Trauma Care at the Los Angeles County Hospital/ Keck Hospital of USC, where she regularly serves patients with gang affiliation. As a Christian, Meghan shares how her relationship with Christ motivates her to love and serve her patients. Her experiences shared here serve to demistify the 'gang member' stigma, to shed light on trauma's repeat effects, and highlight the opportunity for churches to know, serve, and love these neighbors. Meghan also works as an Assistant Professor of Clinical Surgery at Keck USC Medical School. She and her husband are members of Cornerstone South Bay and they have two children.
