1001 Album Club
Friends make a pact to listen and discuss every album from the Robert Dimery book, 1001 Albums you must hear before you die. This isn't a show. It's a document. Each episode has a brief background , music clips, and is recorded in a basement tiki bar so we can make fun of ourselves in ten years.
It Grew On Me

I was listening on Spotify, now on this platform. At first I thought these guys were just some jerks criticizing the music I grew up with and loved (I’m 66). But they’re from a younger generation with a different perspective. I’ve grown to like them and I don’t get offended if they not keen on some of the albums I listened to. They’re listening with fresh ears. Now I can’t wait for the latest episode.
Can he read??

Can the host not read?? Why is he stumbling and stammering over the album descriptions? Other than that, it’s a good time
Always looking forward to the next episode

The fact that these one star reviews are upset because either, they don’t agree with their analysis’, or “they’re obnoxious“. If you read the description, it says FRIENDS discussing these albums, not musical professors setting out to piss off older men that think that Blonde on Blonde was the pinnacle of music. That’s the charm behind it.
Great podcast to listen to as you play along

There’s a website (https://1001albumsgenerator.com) where you get assigned a random record from “1001 Albums You Must Hear Before You Die” every day and can leave a review of it and I have been doing that and really enjoying it, and this podcast really complements that activity. When I get assigned a record, I listen to it and jot down my thoughts and then search “1001” and the album title and listen to what these yahoos think about it. I disagree with a lot of their opinions but they are fairly well thought out and rarely ever knee-jerk and dismissive. They mostly try to honestly engage with the music and make an effort to appreciate it (except for the loud drunk guy) even if it’s not really their thing. I have to echo every other reviewer in saying that hearing the guy that reads the album descriptions at the beginning takes me back to English class where you were dreading when it’s the illiterate kid’s turn to read because you experience secondhand embarrassment from hearing him struggle through his assigned paragraph. But those quibbles aside, this is a very good podcast and if you like listening to people talk about music then you might really enjoy it.
