THE BEYOND DARKNESS DIALOGUES is a podcast about artistic practice and artistic research, hosted by Nanna Hanfgarn Jensen and Nadja Mattioli. We want to share our conversations with performers, artists and practitioners who are inspiring us during our creative BD investigations as we believe in the importance of providing more sources around artistic practices and encouraging artists to share their ideas, questions and findings with each other.     This time, Nadja is in dialogue with choreographer and founder of countertechnique Anouk van Dijk at the Münchner Kammerspiele in Germany. They met during their work on the production called TOUCH - directed by Falk Richter and choreographed Anouk van Dijk.     Nanna and Nadja are at Aaben Dans in Roskilde (Denmark), in dialogue with Thomas Eisenhardt, choreographer and artistic director of Aaben Dans. To start the dialogue, Nanna and Nadja ask about movement and the importance of the senses in Thomas’s work. He shares information about the inspiration for his upcoming piece Hvad er Det? (What is this?), a performance for the youngest of audiences and about discovery and curiosity. And he explains how darkness was used as a main component in the piece Med Hånden På Hjertet (Hand on the Heart), a dance performance created in 2019. Enjoy!     Nanna Hanfgarn Jensen and Nadja Mattioli, the creators of the Beyond Darkness Podcast, are in dialogue with each other, sharing why they wanted to create this podcast in the first place, details about their artistic practice, the different pillars of their artistic research, as well as the core values of the BD organism. Enjoy this introductory episode! The Beyond Darkness Podcast is a knowledge-sharing platform for artistic practice and artistic research, provided by Nanna Hanfgarn Jensen and Nadja Mattioli. As a part of the Beyond Darkness practice, Nadja and Nanna are sharing their dialogues with other performance artists and practitioners who are inspiring them during their investigations.
