77: How To Offer Care Strategically In Your Church

The Care Ministry Podcast

Care is an essential part of the local church because it is an expression of the love and compassion that Christ calls his followers to show to one another.

As members of a community of faith, we are called to support and encourage one another in our spiritual journey, and to provide care and assistance to those who are struggling.

The Bible emphasizes the importance of caring for one another in numerous passages, such as Galatians 6:2 which says, "Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ." This commandment reminds us that we are not meant to go through life alone, but rather to share our struggles and joys with our brothers and sisters in Christ.

So how do we care for each other in the church?

In this episode I share:

  • How leaders in care ministry offer care
  • The Model of Care and how it can be used to approach care strategically
  • Why the church should provide care to members in need

Quotes

  • If everyone was directed to seek professional services as their primary access for support there would never be enough clinicians to support them.
  • Care offered from our church doesn’t always have to be reactionary but we can help develop self-care practices and tools as a preventative strategy to care.
  • Community is an area where the church excels.
  • We can teach and train about self-care.
