"The Red Sowing' & 'The Queen Who Ever Was" Part 2 (HOTD E7&8) (ACOIAF #16)

Fiona and Emma return for Part 2 of their two-part, five-hour deep dive into House of the Dragon Season 2, Episodes 7 and 8 — and they are unhinged, overcaffeinated, and armed with lore. This time, we’re deep into Harrenhal, where a weirwood bleeds, the wind whispers “traitor,” and a literal Green Man creeps through the trees (yes, really). Jace pouts, Baela claps back, and Daemon dreams of bloodraven, the Long Night, and a timeline that might finally connect him to Dany. Meanwhile, Helaena casually drops spoilers about Aemond’s fate — and his guilt — in the most devastating balcony scene since Romeo & Juliet. We also get the long-awaited Alicent/Rhaenyra face-off — eight and a half minutes of perfect writing, perfect acting, and one queen politely telling the other to go walk into the sea. It’s packed with lore, book insights, face acting analysis, and the exact right amount of wine. 📌 Hosted by Fiona and Emma 🎧 Spoilers included (clearly flagged) 🍷 This episode of The Unreal Hour is brought to you by Pinot Noir. "The Red Sowing' & 'The Queen Who Ever Was" Part 1 (HOTD E7&8) (ACOIAF #15)

Fiona and Emma kick off Part 1 of their two-part, five-hour deep dive into House of the Dragon Season 2, Episodes 7 and 8 — and yes, it’s absolutely as chaotic and lore-drenched as it sounds. We begin in the Riverlands, where prepubescent icon Oscar Tully outmaneuvers Daemon Targaryen with nothing but ancestral loyalty and the pure power of “my granddad said so.” From there, we head straight into Harrenhal — land of broken dreams, haunted chairs, and George R.R. Martin’s actual face carved into a tree. Daemon is slowly losing his grip on reality (again), Viserys makes a ghostly return via decomposing wig, and Vision Goat appears to silently judge us all. Meanwhile, Alicent Hightower takes a pensive nude swim in a lake that may or may not scream Sin. Bathe. Pray. — depending on your level of TikTok brain rot. Is it a spiritual cleanse? A death wish? Or just a girl who finally found a big enough bath? Fiona and Emma debate. Rhaenyra, meanwhile, ascends — emotionally, spiritually, and maybe just a little bit manically — as the Dragonseed storyline ignites. Jace has an identity crisis, Corlys does his best emotionally distant dad impression, and the bastards start getting ideas. Add in a few behind-the-scenes nuggets (like 16 stuntmen actually being set on fire), and you’ve got yourself one hell of a Part 1. It’s full of insight, laughs, lore, goat theories, unfiltered rants, and a surprising amount of reverence for Silverwing. Part 2 coming soon — and it’s even hotter than Vermithor in a recruitment pit Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/a-cast-of-ice-and-fire--6182218/support.

    "Regent" & "Smallfolk" (HOTD S2E5&6) (ACOIAF #14)

In this scorching episode of A ’Cast of Ice and Fire, Fiona and Emma dissect House of the Dragon Season 2, Episodes 5 & 6—where the realm is in chaos, allegiances are as flimsy as a Targaryen marriage vow, and no one is safe (especially if they have a dragon).Between battles and betrayals, we dive deep into Daemon’s increasingly ominous dreams—because nothing says “coping mechanism” like cryptic Targaryen visions of doom. Meanwhile, Aemond isn’t waiting around for Aegon to recover, stepping up as the real power behind the throne (and let’s be honest, probably enjoying it way too much). Criston Cole may have the title of Hand, but his grip on reality? Not so strong. As the pressure of war mounts, his past actions—murder, war crimes, and a lifetime of bad decisions—start catching up with him, leading to some very unstable leadership moments. Fiona and Emma also take a lore-filled detour into the history of dragon dreams, past and present Targaryen rulers who may or may not have lost their minds over them, and what this could mean for Daemon’s fate.Fiona and Emma bring the jokes, the drama, and the inevitable heartbreak as they try to pick apart who’s winning, who’s losing, and who’s about to be roasted alive next. Grab your wildfire whiskey and prepare for some hot takes—because, much like Westeros, this podcast is descending into madness. "The Burning Mill" (HOTD S2E3) (ACOIAF #12)

Welcome back, fellow Unrealists! In episode 3 of Season 2, "The Burning Mill," Fiona and Emma have outdone themselves with coverage you won’t want to miss. Trust us, you’ll be giggling like a dragon on a sugar high. First off, let’s dive into the juicy Brackens and Blackwoods feud. This age-old rivalry is hotter than dragonfire, and Fiona and Emma break it all down with a mix of humor and insight that'll have you laughing and nodding along. If you thought your family had drama, wait until you hear about these two houses. It's like a medieval soap opera, but with more swords and fewer commercial breaks. Daemon's dreams are another topic that had us all scratching our heads and checking under our beds. Seriously, what’s with all the creepy vibes? Emma's take on Daemon’s prophetic nighttime visions is both hilarious and a little unsettling. And speaking of unsettling, can we talk about the super creepy and mysterious cursed Harrenhal? Fiona’s commentary will have you spooked and entertained in equal measure. It’s like those ghost stories you loved as a kid, but with a bit more political intrigue. Next, let’s talk about the new dragon on the block. This majestic beast has swooped in and stolen the spotlight, leaving everyone buzzing. And who better to break down the dragon’s intricate anatomy than our very own Emma? From the impressive wingspan to the fiery breath, Emma’s got you covered with all the deets and a few belly laughs along the way. But wait, there’s more! Enter the drama with a capital D. We’ve got Rhaenyra and Alicent in a rather tense reunion that’s got more tension than a tightrope walk over a pit of hungry crocodiles. The horse has bolted, folks, and there’s no going back. "Rhaenyra the Cruel" (HOTD S2EP2) (ACOIAF #11)

Welcome back, fellow dragon-riders and Westeros wanderers! Fiona and Emma here, ready to dissect the delicious chaos of Episode 2, "Rhaenyra the Cruel." Buckle up, because this episode had us white-knuckling our seats, gasping at the screen, and laughing at the sheer absurdity of Plotto’s fake news.  First off, let's talk about the dialogue. Whoever penned those lines deserves a golden quill dipped in dragon blood. The verbal sparring was sharper than Valyrian steel, and the tension between Rhaenyra and Daemon was so thick you could cut it with a dagger.  And can we take a moment to appreciate the duel of the century? Brothers at odds, swords clashing, and family drama dialed up to eleven. This wasn’t just a fight; it was a ballet of brutality, a symphony of sibling rivalry. The choreography was so intense, it felt like we were right there in the thick of it. By the time the dust settled, we were picking our jaws up off the floor. But let’s not forget the pièce de résistance: Plotto’s scandalous spin on the news. The man is a maestro of misinformation, crafting tales so wild they make our heads spin. This episode’s fake news had us rolling on the floor with laughter, shaking our heads at the sheer audacity. We can’t wait to see what kind of propaganda he’ll cook up next. Until then, keep your dragons fed and your swords sharp.  Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/a-cast-of-ice-and-fire--6182218/support.
