Conversations Most Men Avoid and Desperately Need

This week's episode brings you the kind of conversations most men avoid-and desperately need. It's raw, it's real, and it might just be the push you need to stop bottling things up and start talking. From living in shame to finding purpose, these stories challenge everything we think about what it means to be "strong." Josh White opens up about how being the life of the party masked crippling anxiety, fear, and feelings of failure. Diagnosed with ADHD, he was labelled, judged, and left searching for help in all the wrong places. "I was scared of life," Josh admits. But smashing through his comfort zones helped him rewrite his story. Real Hackney Dave had it all on paper-car, kids, house-but felt miserable and ashamed of the life he'd built. He hit rock bottom, tore up the rulebook, and rebuilt a life that feels authentic, one motorbike ride at a time. His message is blunt: stop waiting for permission to live your life. Joe Roberts-Walker shares the heartbreak of losing his brother and the unexpected beauty of finding hope in his niece. "Grief is something we're never prepared for," he says, but Joe's story is one of love, legacy, and learning to hold pain and joy in the same hands. Paraag Amin takes us into the pressure cooker of cultural expectations, from childhood responsibility to adult burnout. After hitting a breaking point on his 40th birthday, he realised life isn't about titles or achievements but the way you make others feel. Why This Episode Matters: These aren't just stories, they're lifelines. They remind us that no one has it all figured out and that opening up isn't just brave; it's necessary. What You'll Gain: - A glimpse into the lives of men who've faced the fear, grief, and shame that we rarely talk about. - The courage to reflect on your own struggles and the strength to start your own conversations. - Hope that even in your darkest moments, there's a way forward. If you're willing to talk. Why Listen Now? Because every second you wait is another second pretending you're fine when you're not. These men didn't have all the answers, but they had the courage to start. Now it's your turn. Your story matters, and someone out there needs to hear it. Start sharing and talking today. Breaking Boxes and Beats: Santanna Oush on Life, Love, and DJing

This episode of A Class of Their Own is one you won’t want to miss. We sit down with Santanna Oush, the DJ and in her own words the most motivational person in the room. Santanna's story is a rollercoaster of resilience, creativity, and bold self-expression. This episode will have you curious and wondering where we will go next. Buckle up, because this conversation will take you from the humble beginnings selling potatoes out of a blue van to lighting up stages at 14 – all while navigating the complexities of foster care, sexism in the music industry, and an inner journey to balance darkness and light. Santanna opens up about her early years growing up in foster care. It wasn’t easy, there were moments of heartbreak, like watching her mother suffer and being unable to help, how she was one of the lucky one to get professional foster parents like Sue and John who provided her with the safety and space to thrive. We dive deep into how these experiences shaped her, revealing that it wasn’t just a tough upbringing; it was also where she learned resilience, hope, and self-reliance. And then there’s the music. From a young age, Santanna had a natural ear for sound, turning heads at her first gig in Leamington Spa when she was only 14. But the road to becoming a full-time DJ wasn’t as smooth as the beats she drops today. She sold potatoes, BIC pens, insurance, sky dishes - I think she could probably sell ice to eskimos. Picture this: Friday night after her day finished at a business magazine the scenes were like The Wolf of Wall Street, fast-paced, chaotic, and sometimes teetering on the edge of control. She was living for the evenings, that was her survival and yet she had to navigate her family’s history of addiction, something she’s always conscious of, even today in an industry known for its temptations DJing. Today, she unapologetically owns her space in a male-dominated DJ industry. She has founded OUSHE, giving female DJs a platform to DJ in some of the top bars and clubs. She has a regular residency at Pikes in Ibiza, where she elevates upand coming DJs. But it’s not just DJing for Santanna, this is the first time she’s shares her voice and story. She's actually really shy. Santanna openly shares all of who she is from love, relationships and and her s**ual orientation. She refuses to be put in a box. What will you gain from listening? Expect a candid, unfiltered conversation that touches on themes of resilience, overcoming adversity, and following your passion. Whether you’re in the music industry or simply looking for inspiration to push past life’s obstacles, Santanna’s story is a refreshing reminder that success comes from embracing every part of your journey, accepting the difficult bits and loving yourself and others around you. Why should you listen? If you want to hear about the highs and lows of making it in the DJ industry, staying grounded in a world of temptations, and learning how to embrace both your inner darkness and light, then hit play now. Santanna Oush is living proof that you don’t have to fit into anyone’s box to make your mark on the world. Santanna #YouAreAClassOfYourOwn. Oush. The Power of Now vs Outdated Masculinity Ideals

What happens when you’ve lived your whole life behind a mask maybe one involving the idealism of masculinity - was that toxic masculinity. Then one day it falls away? In this gripping episode, Amardeep Parmar sits down to talk about the moment everything changed and the surprising lessons he’s learned from it all. From his early years growing up in Barkingside, East London, faking confidence to fit in, to losing friends to suicide, Amardeep’s story is one of constant reinvention. He candidly shares how, even though he seemed to have it all together on the outside, inside he was spiralling. His struggles with anxiety, and faking it and the crushing pressure to appear strong offer a raw, unfiltered look at how toxic masculinity nearly took over. But it’s not all heavy. Amardeep’s breakthrough moment comes with a decision that will surprise you: instead of drowning in the past or fearing the future, he chooses to live "aggressively" in the present. And that’s just the start. Amardeep shares how, many moments in his life started as side projects, experimenting that led to finding his magic. He grew faster than all fellow writers except for one, Barack Obama, the US President. What was he writing about you'll have to watch the episode to find out. The episode takes a surprising turn when Amardeep talks about the impact of his father's death, a moment that rocked his world and everything changed again. What was meant to be a side hustle, BAE HQ, started as a legacy project, a way to honour his dad's belief in him. But even more unexpected? How this tragedy became the catalyst for Amardeep's radical shift in perspective on work, grief, and self-worth. And, just when you think you know where the story is headed, Amardeep flips the script again, opening up about the strong female influences in his life, how they’ve reshaped his views on vulnerability, and what he really thinks about traditional 'alpha' masculinity - especially in a Punjabi background. This conversation is full of twists, heartfelt moments, and unfiltered honesty. It’s not just about mental health; it’s about confronting who you thought you were and realising who you really want to become. Listen now to hear how Amardeep Parmar went from living behind a mask to living his life, on his own terms, and why he believes every man needs to do the same.
