Join me as I have a discussion with my guest, Niya Lewis, a Licensed Professional Counselor, as we discuss Mental Health in 2020.
Niya is a Licensed Professional Counselor and has worked in mental health for over 10 years. She has experience working with individuals diagnosed with severe Mental Health illnesses and Co-Occurring Disorders in inpatient and outpatient programs. She has held various positions as a Mobile Crisis Technician, Mental Health Therapist, Community Support Specialist, and Care Coordinator. She has a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology from Hampton University and a Master's of Science Degree in Mental Health Counseling from Bowie State University. She has experience providing Individual, group and family counseling. Also, she has experience working in addiction and with incarcerated individuals. Some of her duties include advocating and linking consumers to community resources such as mental health services, social security disability benefits, permanent and affordable housing, vocational rehabilitation services, food and clothing pantries, literacy programs, and transportation services. Niya is a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Incorporated. Niya has over 10 years of federal service at GSA, CSOSA, and HHS respectively. She enjoys reading, watching television, hanging with friends, family and her dog.
