They are a salmon culture and refer to themselves as the people of the cedar tree. We talk about how the Gold Rush and loggers in northern California affected many of the decisions that led the Yurok to where they are at today. We briefly tell some stories about how the bison relates to our cultures as well as how it was referred to as the Walmart of the great plains. The bison provided everything from the shelter to the every day tools our ancestors needed. The relationship between our cultures and this animal is a must for survival.     Episode 33: Indian Country Power Couple TJ and Frances Altekruse Northern Cheyenne & Crow Nation

    Today we interview Tj and Frances Altekruse. Matt. and Zach met TJ and Frances at the made in Montana Tradeshow earlier this year. We talked about about all the wonderful things this power couple is accomplishing in Indian Country. We learned that Tj is a non native working with tribal economical development and Frances is an enrolled Northern Cheyenne working with Montana Consortium for Urban Indian Health. On this episode we discuss everything from Bigfoot beliefs to disenrollment. We hope you enjoy the interview of this power couple.
