    What No One Tells You About Being a Tall Athlete | My Journey As A Former Athlete

    For today’s episode, we are talking about tall people and sports as well as my journey as an athlete.  “Do you play basketball?”  “Oh you must play basketball or volleyball.”  Those were two of the most common comments I’ve gotten as a tall girl growing up and honestly even at this age. And you’d be surprised just how disappointed some people were when I’d tell them that I don’t. Like I’m sorry…but you’re a random stranger. Why does it matter to you???  It’s pretty common that when somebody sees a tall person, they think that that tall person has some type of natural athleticism or would be good at sports. Well, newsflash…not all of us play or have played sports. Crazy, right?? However, there was a time where I did play sports. And that’s what we’re talking about today.  I want this episode to be for the tall girlies who feel some type of pressure to play sports because of their height or have other interests besides sports.     Are Tall People ACTUALLY Privileged? | The Unseen Side of Tall Privilege

    So apparently, there are people who think that tall people are privileged? Like there’s a term called ‘tall privilege’. I guess I’m not tall enough to know what it is since it’s the first time I’m hearing about this. Since it’s my first time and it may be your first time, we’re learning this together. I looked it up on Google and AI suggestions said that ‘tall privilege’ is essentially the advantages taller people may have over shorter people. It’s often interchangeable with height privilege, height bias, etc.  If you’ve heard of pretty privilege, it’s similar to that just with height. Tall privilege can show up in different areas of life, but it seems to be a big thing in the dating world. Scrolling through TikTok, videos really highlight this in that they tend to claim that men often get more attention and more choices in the dating world if they’re on the taller side.  So how does tall privilege affect tall people?     I Went To The NYC Tall Size Pop-Up Shop Event and Here's How It Went…

    As you may or may not know, I went to the Tall Size pop-up shop event this past weekend. And if you don’t know Tall Size, what’s wrong with you? Lol jk. Tall Size is an online marketplace that’s home to several tall brands like Korai, Above The Crowd, Whitney Allysyn, Alloy Apparel, just to name a few.  They’re essentially on tour; they were touring Canada and now they’re in the U.S. They were in NYC this weekend and you know I had to be there lol.     We Need To Stop Calling Tall Women "Big"...

    So for today’s episode we are talking about tall women being called “big”, why that’s an issue in my opinion, and how we as tall women can remain confident and remember that some people don’t mean it in an insulting way.  First and foremost, as a community, let’s stop calling tall women “big”. To be honest, “big” and “tall” are 2 completely different things in my opinion. Let’s just stick with “tall”, okay? It’s fairly offensive to call a tall woman, or any woman for that matter, “big” and here’s why:  “Big” for a woman has a negative connotation to it in two ways. First, we’re taught from a young age that we’re supposed to be small, not seen, out of the way, and honestly just there when needed. So, when you have a tall girl, who already sticks out, feels out of place, and is ridiculed for something she naturally has (which is her height) and then you point out the fact that she’s “bigger” than her peers, “bigger” than the people around her, how do you think she’s gonna feel?  If you said self-conscious, you’re right.  The second way is that “big” is often tied to the terms “fat” or “overweight”. I personally don’t like using those terms because society has placed such a negative connotation with them, but because “big” is associated with such negative words, we’re going to take it as an insult. And honestly I feel like this is something very very common for a tall plus sized woman.  Why do people even call tall women “big” to begin with? How can we respond to those who call us “big”?     The REAL Reason Why Big Brands Won't Make Clothing for Tall Women...

    Today’s episode was actually inspired by an event that occurred in the past week. I’m trying to update/upgrade my wardrobe and for real this time because I know I’ve been saying that for the ENTIRETY of this podcast, but we got our stuff figured out so we’re doing it this time. Anyways, I went to Loft Outlet which is basically a store with last season’s/last year’s clothing items from the actual Loft store.  I was looking around and looking at some items and then I stumbled upon the petite section. So I’m looking at this like okay….where is the tall section??? Crickets.  Nowhere to be found.  And that’s the issue with many brands. They will have the standard sizes of course but sometimes, they’ll have a petite section in stores. And no tall section, which makes ZERO sense to me because it’s like if you’re gonna cater to one end of the height spectrum, why not cater to the other end as well?  Anyways, the big question here is why don’t big brands make clothing for tall women?     Today, we are talking about online harassment and bullying towards tall women. Yes, online harassment and bullying.  With the rise of social media and the Internet, it’s easier than ever for people to communicate with others from all over the world, including complete strangers, in both public and private settings. People are able to leave comments, send messages, make posts, and more and this makes way for cyberbullying and online harassment.  First, let’s start off with:  What is Online Harassment?  According to the Durham University, online harassment is the use of information and communication technologies by an individual or a group to cause harm to another person. This can take various forms, such as derogatory comments, unsolicited advice, stalking, and even sustained harassment.  So, what are some examples of online harassment towards tall women?     Are Tall Women Too Masculine? | The Truth About Tall Girl Stereotypes

    Today we are talking about tall girl stereotypes. You know the comments like “Wow, you must play basketball!” or “Oh my gosh, you’re so intimidating!” or “Are you a man?” That last one lowkey hit a lil different and not in a good way. But I’m sure that if you’re a tall woman you have been stereotyped like this one way or the other. And this episode is for you! We’re gonna be talking about the most common stereotypes of tall women as well as the issues and harsh truths about them.  Because in some way, shape, or form, if you’re a tall girl, these stereotypes have affected you whether it be confidence, self-image, etc. But first…  What Is A Stereotype?  A stereotype is a widely held yet oversimplified and generalized belief or idea about a particular group of people. So essentially, when you see a particular group or a person classified into a particular group, you make an assumption based on that classification. And this can be based on race, gender, profession, or even height. Often, whether good or bad, stereotypes are perpetuated by the media and pop culture. But today, we’re only focusing on the effects on tall women.  So what are the common tall girl stereotypes? And why are they detrimental to tall women?     Tall Men vs. Short Men: Which Do Tall Women Prefer?

    This has been an ongoing thing for who knows how many years. Time and time again, there are these public interviews where people are stopped in the streets—whether tall women, average-height women, or even men—and they’re asked what their ideal height in a partner is. I’m assuming this is a way to gather some type of information as to which height is most attractive to people. I feel like a very common misconception is that all tall women inherently prefer tall men or view shorter men as less attractive or less capable. Is this the reality?
