Longtime Quaker, first time listener

I was drawn to Quakerism as a child and grew up at Sandy Spring Monthly meeting in MD and attended Earlham College have gone to FGC, became a member and active business and committee work in Raleigh NC and as I have traveled, enjoy visiting meetings and inquiring about hospitality. I started with the “What do Quakers believe?” podcast, a question I have fielded inwardly and outwardly. I am glad to find such a quality resource and have shared it with friends that I think will enjoy this resource. Gratitude.

The episode with Ayesha Imani and learning about the history of Black Quakers has transformed my faith and nudged me to return home to Quakerism. I attended a Quaker school growing up and have always felt grounded by my Quaker faith, but I never named or declared it. I’ve struggled to reconcile the tension between feeling a strong sense of belonging as a Friend while being simultaneously othered as a Black person from a working class background in white spaces. Ayesha’s thoughtful and nuanced reflections resonated and really excited me about joining Black Quaker communities and finding a spiritual home. I absolutely love this podcast.

Who knew a podcast about Quakers could be fresh and interesting?! I learn something every time. I guess Quakers still have something to say in these times. Also, love Georgia’s voice and style as a podcaster.
