    On this week’s episode of About Damn Crime, as we wrap up the year, Rabia and Ellyn update us on many cases that they’ve covered this year. We kick off with Ellyn doing a quick update on the Diddy case, including how Jay-Z recently filed a motion to dismiss the case and deny the Plaintiff’s request to proceed anonymously. Then, Rabia updates us on two separate cases - Sarah Boone and Melody Farris - both of whom were recently sentenced and released statements to the court. Then, Ellyn discusses Hannah Kobayashi who, on November 8th, arrived in LAX from Maui and did not board her connecting flight to New York. There is video footage showing her next move, which they dive into. Then, Rabia discusses Dennis Perry who was arrested in 2003 for the killing of a husband and wife, Harold and Thelma Swain, in their church. The Georgia Innocence Project helped get him exonerated and, finally, there has been an arrest in the case. We end with an update on the Rocky Myers case, which was previously covered by our ADC special guest, Gigi.

    Rabia and Ellyn are joined by Frank Parlato, a publisher who is widely credited for bringing attention to the NXIVM cult through his published article from 2017. Frank brings the Story of OneTaste to Rabia and Ellyn. Through a fascinating discussion, of which Frank has a ton of inside information, they discuss this sexual wellness company that gained fame and followers while there was something sinister going on behind the scenes.

    On this week’s episode of About Damn Crime, Rabia and Ellyn debrief over the JonBenet Ramsey documentary on Netflix. Then, they jump right into the case that everyone is talking about this week: the murder of Brian Thompson, the 50-year-old CEO of UnitedHealthcare. A quick disclaimer: this episode was recorded on Monday 12/9 at 12:30pm EST, prior to many new developments in the case. Then, Ellyn updates Rabia on the Diddy case. A woman recently amended her lawsuit against Sean Combs and included that she was assaulted by Jay-Z at the same party. Then, they discuss the NYC police detective, Wilson Frias, who worked for the NYPD for 18 years. In 2023, he was convicted of sexually abusing his 5-year-old neighbor and he was recently found guilty. The brave victim testified in court with the support of a 2-year-old Labrador Retriever, who was a court certified support animal.

    About Damn Crime - Wicked Beyond Belief

    On this week’s episode of About Damn Crime, Rabia and Ellyn have a slight disagreement on their reviews of Wicked. Let’s just say Ellyn feels very passionate about the movie. Once we (sort of) get past that, we launch into the episode. Rabia begins by updating us on Gisele Pelicot’s trial. As the trial goes on, more and more disturbing details come to light about Gisele’s husband and all of the men involved in her assaults. Then, Ellyn tells the horrific story of a baby who was kept in a drawer for over 3 years after birth. We then get a Karen Read update as recently the prosecutors in her case were asking for the cell phone records of her parents – and the judge had a recent ruling on the request. Then, Rabia and Ellyn discuss back and forth Australia’s new social media ban for those under 16-years-old and whether this is a good or bad thing. Finally, we welcome our first Australian guest, Renee Dekker, who tells us about a 95-year-old woman in a nursing home who died after being tased by police – and the fallout.

    The Disappearance of Melanie Ethier with David Ridgen

    Rabia and Ellyn are joined by David Ridgen, an award-winning producer, filmmaker and podcast host. You may recognize his voice from the very popular podcasts The Next Call and Someone Knows Something, the latter of which just released its ninth season. Together they discuss the disappearance of Melanie Ethier, which is a case covered in depth in Ridgen’s podcast The Next Call. In September of 1996 Melanie left a friend's house after watching movies in the sleepy town of New Liskeard in Canada and was never seen again. There was no crime scene, no body, no motive and not a lot of answers. The theories of her disappearance have never stopped after all these years.

    On this week’s episode of About Damn Crime, Rabia and Ellyn have a quick check in about relationships. Then, Ellyn discusses some recent closure in the senseless murder of Laken Riley, a 22-year-old Augusta University nursing student. Jose Ibarra was recently convicted for her murder. This discussion leads into a look at Rabia’s recent fellowship trip to Montgomery and Selma, Alabama where she spent days touring the Legacy Museum and visiting a memorial to Black men, women and children who were lynched after emancipation. Then, Rabia discusses Brandon Durham who was killed in his own home by police after calling about an intruder on his property. We finish up with Ellyn’s story about Ryan Borgwardt who disappeared while kayaking and ended up in Uzbekistan.

    On this week’s episode of About Damn Crime, Rabia is on the road and Ellyn had a viral video mishap. Rabia then brings us our first story which is the recent $100 million lawsuit filed by Malcolm X’s family that alleges the FBI, CIA and NYPD had a role in his murder. Then, Ellyn discusses Brittany Patterson who is speaking out about her recent October 30th arrest for reckless conduct after her then 10-year-old son was found walking alone. Rabia then updates us on the tragic case of Robert Roberson, who remains on death row despite overwhelming evidence of his innocence. Recently, the Texas Supreme Court ruled that his execution can be scheduled after being halted in October. We end with our special guest, Jeff Brumley, who discusses the Washington State court’s computer systems which were offline for the past two weeks following the detection of unauthorized activity.

    On this week’s episode of About Damn Crime, Rabia and Ellyn begin by holding an election post mortem. This leads into Ellyn’s first story, covering the horrifying, racist texts that were sent the day after Trump won the election to Black people in many southern states. Rabia then covers the Delphi trial. As of this recording, the jury was on day 4 of their deliberations in the trial of Richard Allen who was charged in 2022 for the killing of Liberty “Libby” German and Abigail “Abby” Williams in 2017. Lastly, Ellyn fills us in on a few ongoing updates. Preacher John-Paul Miller was recently arrested on an assault charge. Then, George Gascon, the Los Angeles DA who recently recommended a resentencing in the Menendez Brothers case, lost his reelection bid. What does this mean for Erik and Lyle? Ellyn and Rabia dive in.
