    On this week’s episode of About Damn Crime, Rabia is on the road and Ellyn had a viral video mishap. Rabia then brings us our first story which is the recent $100 million lawsuit filed by Malcolm X’s family that alleges the FBI, CIA and NYPD had a role in his murder. Then, Ellyn discusses Brittany Patterson who is speaking out about her recent October 30th arrest for reckless conduct after her then 10-year-old son was found walking alone. Rabia then updates us on the tragic case of Robert Roberson, who remains on death row despite overwhelming evidence of his innocence. Recently, the Texas Supreme Court ruled that his execution can be scheduled after being halted in October. We end with our special guest, Jeff Brumley, who discusses the Washington State court’s computer systems which were offline for the past two weeks following the detection of unauthorized activity.

    On this week’s episode of About Damn Crime, Rabia and Ellyn begin by holding an election post mortem. This leads into Ellyn’s first story, covering the horrifying, racist texts that were sent the day after Trump won the election to Black people in many southern states. Rabia then covers the Delphi trial. As of this recording, the jury was on day 4 of their deliberations in the trial of Richard Allen who was charged in 2022 for the killing of Liberty “Libby” German and Abigail “Abby” Williams in 2017. Lastly, Ellyn fills us in on a few ongoing updates. Preacher John-Paul Miller was recently arrested on an assault charge. Then, George Gascon, the Los Angeles DA who recently recommended a resentencing in the Menendez Brothers case, lost his reelection bid. What does this mean for Erik and Lyle? Ellyn and Rabia dive in.

    The Disappearance of Malaysia Airlines Flight 370 with Brandon “Jinx” Jenkins

    Rabia and Ellyn are joined by Brandon “Jinx” Jenkins who is a journalist, TV host, writer, photographer, DJ and podcast host. His podcast, Mogul, was award-winning, but he has also hosted The RapCaviar Podcast and Conviction and can currently be heard hosting Wondery’s latest true crime franchise, Criminal Attorney. In this episode, Rabia, Ellyn and Jinx cover the disappearance of Malaysia Airlines Flight 370. Just past midnight on March 18, 2014, a flight full of 227 passengers and 12 crew members took off from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia to Beijing, China. Widely regarded as the greatest mystery in aviation history, the flight completely disappeared from air traffic control’s radar. Many theories regarding the flight have been reported in the media, but no cause has ever been determined.     About Damn Crime - You Want to Believe

    On this week’s episode of About Damn Crime, Ellyn kicks things off with an update on the Diddy case. There was a recent gag order put in place by Diddy’s legal team, with the clear goal of making sure that no other witnesses speak out prior to the trial. Then, Rabia discusses the Melody Farris trial. Her husband, Gary Farris, was a prominent Georgia attorney who went missing in 2018 and was later found in a burn pile on their farm. As of the recording of this episode, we were awaiting a verdict in Melody’s trial. Then, Ellyn provides an update on Mica Miller’s death. Mica died on April 27th, which was ruled a suicide, amongst very strange circumstances, including it being two days after she served her husband, John-Paul Miller, divorce papers. This week, the FBI executed a search warrant of John-Paul’s home citing it being a court appointed search. Finally, we are joined by a guest listener, Dr. Aleks, who is a forensic interviewer and expert in criminal trials. She gives a devastating overview of the statistics in child abuse cases, including how frequently judges do not believe experts. Then, she discusses a child protective services case which is ongoing in Colorado. The case centers around Rachel Pickrel-Hawkins and Michael Hawkins.

    About Damn Crime - Finding Faux Connections

    On this week’s episode of About Damn Crime, Rabia discusses the tragic story of the Humiston family murders that occurred in Washington state earlier this month. It began with a 911 call from a 15-year-old saying that his 13-year-old brother killed his family and then shot himself. Then, Ellyn tells the story of Sewell Seltzer III who died by suicide in Florida in February of this year. His final words were to an AI chatbot, opening a conversation of loneliness, parenting and overall concerns about AI and the internet. Then, there is an open discussion about Sarah Boone who, on October 25th, was found guilty of second-degree murder after she zipped her boyfriend, Jorge Torres Jr., inside of a suitcase and left him to die. After a quick update on the Menendez Brothers, we end with a chilling story of a woman outwitting her attacker by calling 911 and pretending to order a pizza.

    The Case of Betty Broderick with Susie Evans

    Rabia and Ellyn are joined by Susie Evans, best known for winning season 26 of The Bachelor, or, as Ellyn puts it, the person with one of the most badass moves in the show’s history. She also hosts the Live, Laugh Lies podcast delving into the world of relationships gone awry. Susie chose to cover the notorious case of Betty Broderick who killed her ex-husband, Dan Broderick, and his second wife, Linda Broderick, in 1989. Convicted of second-degree murder and sentenced to 32 years in prison, Betty and her crime has been widely discussed in the media for decades with numerous books, documentaries, TV specials and series made about the case. Betty’s sentencing has been widely debated as she claimed battered woman syndrome, alleging years of emotional, psychological and physical abuse at the hands of her ex. This opens up a discussion about domestic violence, mental health and societal expectations of wives and mothers.

    On this week’s episode of About Damn Crime, Ellyn kicks things off with an update on Robert Roberson, a 57-year-old man who has been on death row for the death of his 2-year-old daughter, Nikki Curtis. However, all of that may have changed last week in an unprecedented halting of his execution. Then, continuing their discussion of the death penalty, in an extremely different circumstance, Rabia discusses Kirkland Warren who was arrested for the murder of his ex-girlfriend, Meshay Melendez, and her daughter, Layla Stewart. We then turn the corner and Ellyn discusses a case making waves on social media right now as a woman and her husband claim she is serving a 41-month-sentence in federal prison for “speaking her religious truth.” The reality of what happened, however, is far different from what they’ve chosen to disclose on social media. Finally, we are joined by our very special Petitioner this week, Erin Rempe. Erin discusses the Iowa Attorney General recently launching a Cold Case division, followed by the cold case of Ashley Okland, a realtor who was murdered at an open house in West Des Moines, IA.
