About Season 2 with Cynthia Villarreal

Welcome to 'Round About Campus, the podcast for the About Campus magazine, the scholarly magazine of ACPA-College Student Educators International.

In our second season of 'Round About Campus, we take a 'behind the scenes' look at how About Campus works by talking to various people involved in making the magic happen. In this episode, co-hostesses Alex C. Lange and Z Nicolazzo reflect on Season 2 of the podcast with Cynthia Villarreal, an Associate Editor for About Campus.

Dr. Villarreal is an assistant professor in the Department of Educational Leadership at Northern Arizona University, just right up the road from where I am in Tucson. She holds a PhD in Urban Education Policy from the Rossier School of Education at the University of Southern California, and identifies as a fronteriza from El Paso, Texas, studying the borderlands of higher education, Hispanic-Serving Institutions (HSI), organizational culture, equity and decision making, and Chicana feminisms and higher education. As a critical qualitative researcher, she uses interdisciplinary theories and research to inform her approach to the study of HSI and how they serve their Latine students by interrogating the policies, structures, and culture within colleges and universities. She is a mother scholar living in Phoenix, Arizona with her two children and husband.
