Financial Therapy Insights for All Stages of Life with Aja Evans

Pop Quiz: What's the longest relationship you'll have in your life?  Answer: Your relationship with Money!  That's right. We'll be in a relationship with money longer than any other relationship in our lives.  To honor that relationship, I sat down with Aja Evans, Financial Therapist and author of the forthcoming book Feel Good Finance (available for pre-order on Amazon, Barnes and Noble) to talk about the wisdom she's accumulated from her financial therapy practice and what we can do in our 20s, 30s, 40s, 50s, 60s and 70s to live our best financial lives.  In this episode we talk about:  How big life milestones are inevitably financial milestones  The importance of turning inward to identify what we really want versus what we've been told we should want  What changes as we enter different life stages: preferences, boundaries, bodily needs, etc.--and how this all ties into our financial wellness  Having tough conversations with our loved ones to get our finances in order Normalizing and forgiving ourselves for past money regrets To learn more about Aja, visit her website at ajaevanscounseling.com. Money Mindfulness: How Daily Mindfulness Can Help Reduce Financial Stress and Increase Your Wellbeing with Jessica Baier

Chances are, you know what you "should" do with your money--it's actually doing it that's the hard part.  You know why?--you're a human being!  In this insightful and energizing conversation with Fin Tech founder Jessica Baier, we talk all the ways that mindfulness can support us in better understanding our motivations around money, tapping into our values, and increasing our overall wellbeing.  This conversation is a GAME CHANGER!--one of my favorites I've had on the pod.  Here are some highlights:  Why we need to focus on PROGRESS not PERFECTION How gender conditioning has affected us, how Jessica's mom shared: when her parents were creating saving funds for their children, the boys' savings was for property and the girls' savings was to pay for their wedding Our shared experience as women looking around saying: "should I be here?"--what that does to our confidence--and how we can change that.  Jess's experience creating the Habit Money App--and why it's different from other financial apps--to help us build awareness about our financial decisions so that we can get to real changes Why instant gratification is far more satisfying than consistent, long-term action How the corporate systems employ smart marketing to make it really easy for us to spend and get to immediate gratification My friends, there is SO MUCH in this episode. You've got to listen to it.  To learn more about Jess and the Habit Money App, visit yourfinancialhabit.com. You can also find Jess and Habit Money on TikTok and Instagram @joinhabitmoney, where Jess talks a lot about her mindfulness journey, the journey of being a woman Fin Tech founder, and trying to break some of long-held stereotypes about money. Helping Women Find Financial Comfort, Stability and Success (Even Post-Divorce!) in Real Estate with Abigail Lipson

Research tells us that women end up faring less well than men after divorce. That was true for my guest for this episode--Abigail Lipson, licensed Realtor® and the founder and owner of SmartEgg Properties.  But not for long.  After her divorce, Abigail found herself rebuilding her finances and laying the groundwork for what has become a successful property management company.  ANd, here's the best part--she's on a mission to bring more women with her. This episode is for every woman entrepreneur (or who's curious about becoming one!)--post-divorce/mid-divorce/or no divorce (or marriage) at all! In this episode we hash out:  How Abigail taught herself finance and real estate and doubled down on her skills and took risks to start her own business What it took for Abigail to say she's "not afraid anymore" of financial or business challenges  How we all need someone in our lives who can see the "horizon" that we can't see just yet--that person that can see what we're capable of and what we can achieve, even if we can't see it just yet  How women can support each other rather than doing it alone  And, fear doesn't need to hold us back...we can choose to "do it scared."  To learn more about Abigal, visit her website at smarteggmgmt.com.
