I’m a recent migrant to Queensland from the US and I wanted to tune my ear to the Aussie accent and I found Pete Smissen’s “Aussie English” podcast. Pete’s approach to teaching is both humorous and patient; he fills his lessons (over 1200 to date) with lively anecdotes and useful drills on aspects of Australian English pronunciation that can challenge neophytes’ ears. His recent podcast “Australian Immigrants: What Shocked You When You Moved Here?” presented a change of pace episode; we got to listen to Pete’s Standard Pronunciation vocabulary and accent responding to stories of moving to Oz as listed on a Reddit subgroup. He’s the real deal and I gain useful information and insights into Aussie English with each episode.

I like Pete the way he teaches and explains his lessons. He’s also very creative in all his presentations. Please keep it up. I would highly recommend to everyone his podcasts.

I like this show. I am a native english speaker but I enjoy listening to learn more about Australian culture. I enjoy the episodes where Pete and his father chat. A comforting podcast for people who may feel alone or are lonely and want to learn more about Australia.
