Ep.115 The Art of Business with Natasha Chiumya

Ep.115 The Art of Business with Natasha Chiumya

We are all creative in whatever field we excel in. That means there is an art to Business. From the ebbs and flows of hiring and managing employees, to setting up systems and generating consistent revenue. All this does not happen by accident. There are some who are talented at seeing opportunities where others don't, having a vision for what could be that does not exist already and who are able to bring the right pieces together to make it a reality.
Natasha Chiumya takes us through her creative process of being an entrepreneur.
    *******************************************
Natasha is a serial entrepreneur who has started and failed at many businesses. Fortunately, she has succeeded at three core businesses centred around property and real estate.
She's the founder and managing partner of Folotiya & Chiumya, one of the leading real estate law firms in Zambia. She is also the founder and CEO of Diaspora Connect, an online real estate agency that helps Zambians living abroad buy property back home in a safe and reliable way. And she's a property developer, using her knowledge of the market to build and sell affordable apartments.
Natasha holds a law degree from Warwick University in the UK and an MBA from the Graduate School of Business of UCT in South Africa. She's a former Beit fellow and an award winning lawyer.

Ep.114 Power of Storytelling with Thembe Khumalo

Ep.114 Power of Storytelling with Thembe Khumalo

The most important story you tell is the one you tell to yourself. That informs the world how they should interact with you. Do you know your story? Are you a victim or a survivor? Which role do you play in your story: a spectator or the shero? The best part of all this, is that you get to decide who you want to be.
Thembe takes us on a journey of understanding the power of storytelling and how you can effectively use it in different spaces.
    *****************************************
An award-winning storyteller, Thembe is one of the continent’s leading voices when it comes to branding, communication and personal development. Having started her media career as a TV presenter more than 20 years ago, she is well versed with many aspects of media and communication. Her career highlights include interviewing Graca Machel for the Zimbabwe International Film Festival and hosting the Miss Zimbabwe pageant with a live audience of more than 3000 people.
A prolific writer and compelling speaker, Thembe uses these gifts to help Africans see themselves more clearly in order to elevate their personal narratives. Published in a number of online and offline publications, she has just finished her first book - a collection of essays and short stories which will be published in 2023.

Ep.113 Exalting Africa with Mwai Yeboah

Ep.113 Exalting Africa with Mwai Yeboah

Whose responsibility is it to EXALT Africa? Who knows its beauty and hidden gems more than us? Who has been witness to the magnificence of an African sunset? And bitten the sweet juicy fruit in season with fervour. We are blessed.
And it's a privilege for someone to come to Africa to experience our way of life. The way of Ubuntu.
Sadly not enough Africans see that we have an el dorado. Instead we choose to MAGNIFY our weaknesses.
Do you know a child embodies poverty of the mind only when you tell them they are poor? What if you told them they are RICH instead and it is their sacred duty to preserve our resources, nature, wildlife, and water bodies. Gift them the Belief of being descendents and children of the mighty land Africa.
Mwai Yeboah talks about how she Exalts Africa through all the work that she does.
    ************************************************************
Mwai Yeboah is an acclaimed Zambian-born creative director, author, event producer, and powerhouse entrepreneur whose life work centers around advocating for her home continent of Africa. She is the editor-in-chief at Fifty Four Magazine—a first-of-its-kind quarterly magazine aimed at preserving and showcasing Africa’s culture and lifestyle—and the founder of Exalt Africa, an umbrella brand that houses her prolific portfolio of travel, consulting, and event-production services and products—all of which exist to share Africa’s untold luxury and local-born talent with the world.

Smart and inspiring conversations

It’s great to listen to these honest and smart conversations that celebrate and explore what we can learn from our past, how to deal with the present and how to confront the future. The lens is an experience of an African woman but lessons are most certainly universal.
