All Stories Are Fiction

Stories from the renowned monologist Mike Daisey. He’s been hailed as “the master storyteller” by the New York Times, and compared to a modern-day Mark Twain for his provocative monologues that combine the personal and the political, weaving secret histories with hilarity and heart. His stories include ALL THE FACES OF THE MOON, a 29-night, 40-hour monologue that is a living theatrical novel performed at the Public Theater in NYC. Find out more at mikedaisey.com.

I can't get enough of these. Mike Daisey is the most extraordinary monologist, not just because he is the original monologist, but because when he speaks, by listening you are swept along a sensory experience - he goes high and low, he is relentless and empathetic and fearless and true.

Mike Daisey is the best story teller I have ever seen. This podcast is a great way to experience his performances if you couldn't make it to the theatre.

As a longtime Mike Daisey fan (dating back to summer 2008 when he did How Theater Failed America in New York City) I have long dreamed of something like this: a 100% free audio archive of his work. Something that brings his work out of a theatre and into your earbuds wherever you are. Nothing beats seeing Mike live and in person, but the fact that he is putting his shows out there...often the DAY AFTER he performs them...is one of those things that makes me go "Thank god for podcasts."
Thank you Mike for making these available

We attended many of Mike’s events in Seattle, and they were some of the best evenings of theater we have ever experienced. This is a wonderful podcast, thank you Mike for making them available.
Amazing story telling!

You're going to have to FACE it.

It's not GOING away. It is strong AND relentless. It's fleet on its feet and it will rope all dopes and dupe ALL rubes. 29 nights, 40+ hours, a guy and some notes that's all, I'm TELLING you. All for the price of a click you can't BEAT that. If you like vampires and/or calamari you should already BE here. I'm not really sure why my keyboard keeps DOING this.
An Oracle with a Spilt Personality

I just love these podcasts. Listen to all of them if you want to laugh and think at the same time. The characters and their story so far are really imaginative and fun but the added bonus is they are beautifully wrapped by Mike's observations, ideas and yes - strong opinions on New York, New Yorkers and the current state of American society.
Come for the laughs, stay for the ephemera

You'll probably want to listen to this whole thing. Not because it's the most compelling 44-hour monologue, or because the story is so well-composed, or even because it makes sense. But you won't be able to stop yourself. Mike Daisey is really just that captivating; simply a phenomenal teller. Personally, I prefer his researched work a more than his phantasmal allegory. (He'll probably scoff at me for calling it phantasmal.) But I'll still listen to the entire thing. Minus one star for torturing me with all the cliffhangers.
