43. Bill Lee Emery-Healing From and Thriving After Throat Cancer

About the Guest: In 2022 Bill was diagnosed with throat cancer. It was a shock as he has always enjoyed good health. But he knew he had some fundamental choices and decisions to make. These choices would shape the rest of his journey – he would either crumble or thrive. His choices were deliberate, carefully considered and, as it happened, profound. Over the treatment period, Bill would often hear medical specialists, nurses and allied health professionals make comments like, ‘You’re amazing!’ ‘You’re doing exceptionally well.’ One specialist reported that in her 17 years of clinical experience, his progress and recovery were the best she had seen. Bill commented, ‘Yes, my progress had been good. But if anything was ‘amazing’ it wasn’t me, it was what I knew and applied.’ Bill’s extensive training over the past 45 years with mindfulness, relaxation techniques, visualisation, emotional intelligence, and more, gave him an advantage over many other cancer patients he met. His mission now is to share what worked, the gems of wisdom he gathered from his experiences and how others in a similar situation can apply the same principles.
