S2 Episode 4: Black in the Workplace

AllDenaeLong

As the summer comes to a close, and many return to the grind, Aleah Denae discusses the sad reality of black experiences in the workplace. She delves into the common use of microaggressions and how they may seem small or unintentional, but due to them being rooted in implicit biases they can lead to larger issues in the workplace, no matter the job. She also dissects the idea of professionalism and how it's viewed as coded language for white favoritism, through the implementation of racist dress codes and standards. Aleah Denae digs into when we try living up to this unrealistic idea of what a professional is we often find ourselves subconsciously code-switching to sound like those around us in our careers/professions. The "My Take on Music" Segment features Sincere Cochiese's new single "Rushin", Drake's highly anticipated album and Aaliyah's classic albums finally being on music platforms.
