    AMA | This 2025 Daily Habit DESTROYS Anxiety + Unlocks Your Inner Peace...

    Wellness + Wisdom | Episode 707 Wellness + Wisdom Podcast Host, Josh Trent, shares which daily habits will take your life to the next level and help you ease anxiety. Listen To Episode 707 As Josh Trent Answers Your Questions [01:55] Track Your Daily Habits The one thing that can absolutely destroy your anxiety and unlock your inner peace in 2025 is to put both your business and your personal in your calendar. I actually use color codes. So I have red and green for my business and I have light blue for my personal. So I have 3 colors that are always circulating in my calendar. Now, why do I do this? Why is it so important? Color is an unconscious representation of an energy or a mood or a vibe. So first and foremost, we'll talk about today how to practically use a calendar and also the resistance that's going to naturally come up because it will so that that calendar can become your mirror of how you're showing up not just for your business but also your if you have a family your children if you have children your husband or wife your boyfriend or girlfriend if you have those or just for yourself. This is how it broke down for me. It was 2017, 2018. And I kept asking the same question to my business all the time. How am I going to do it all? How am I going to do it all? Can you relate? How are you going to do it all? This thought, this question is actually a cover question. The thought is, oh my gosh, am I going to be able to do it all? Hence comes the anxiety. Then the outward projection of that thought that I attach to is, oh my gosh, I feel overwhelmed. How am I going to do it all? But it's actually the wrong question. The question isn't how am I gonna do it all? That's a cover fear anxiety question that actually gives our unconscious to not show up for the people that we love and the business that we love and the life that we love. If you're looking for a life that you love, check out some of the other AMAs that we've done in 2025 and 2024 to get very, very clear on creating the life that you love. But back to the point, it wasn't until I finally had a real serious conversation with a business mentor in 2018 where he asked me, I look at your calendar and I don't see any time for you. And I scratched my head. I was like, what do you mean? It's all time for me. This is the paradigm that I was operating from, but there was no time for my self-love, for my self-care. There was no appointment for Josh to meditate, to do breath work, to do sauna, to do cold plunge, to do yoga, to do movement or stretch. It wasn't in there. I literally had become so fixated on pouring my energy into the podcast and into my business that about the most important part, me or you and I. So this concept that'll transform your life in 2025 and beyond is so simple, but just because it's simple does not mean it's easy. We're gonna go over the easy way that you can do this to actually schedule self-love, schedule self-care as a non-negotiable practice. It is first and foremost the adage that you cannot pour from an empty cup. If that cup is half full, then you only have half of yourself to give to others. If that cup is full, then you can pour all kinds of energy into other people because you have a reserve of energy. But here's the thing... [12:45] Design Your Life How can I design a life that I keep promises to myself inside of? This is really big because it's a ritual. Make it a sacred starting and ending place that has gratitude and that has joy and that has love and that has good vibes in it. 10 minutes, we all have. And if you don't have 10 minutes, you need a serious realization of your life, okay? So first and foremost, use your calendar as an external mirror of how much you love yourself on the inside. Next, you get to address the common barriers and really resistance that you're going to meet as you move forward with this. One thought might pop up, I don't have time. Let's be honest, it's 10 minutes. Everybody's got 10 minutes. The next one is, I feel guilty for taking time for myself. Well, that guilt is actually just another cover emotion, another cover story to keep you stuck. So thank the guilt for being there, let it know that it doesn't have a place at the and move forward higher up the Hawkins ladder and actually keep yourself accountable to your calendar. Or I forget is another one. I forgot to do it. Well, this is the beauty and the simplicity of this #1 hack. It's actually not even a hack, it's a habit. This #1 habit that will literally destroy anxiety for you if you do it. And this is the key, if you do it, you get to set aside 10 minutes for yourself, you get to keep yourself accountable calendar. I like color coding, you don't have to. Put it in your calendar and it's a mirror of your life. Dan Martell was on the podcast and he talked about this. One thing he said to me that just rocked my world, that was actually an affirmation of what I had already known from 2018. He said, show me your calendar and I'll show you life. Show me your calendar and I'll show you your life. I mean, this is why small changes compound over time, right? When you invest a dollar a day into something in 30, 40 years, you can have hundreds of thousands or millions of dollars. Think about that a dollar a day, a dollar a day. How easy it is for us, for us to spend a dollar on something that isn't healthy? How easy is it for us to not have a calendar appointment remind us of the promise we made to ourselves? Use your calendar and your life will be used by you instead of your life being used by someone else. I really wanna tell you, this is huge. Use your calendar because your calendar is a representation of how you manage time, how you spend your time. It's really big because I want you to imagine this. Close your eyes for a moment. If you're in the car, don't close your eyes, close your eyes, paint a vivid picture of what life feels like after you have this habit. Paint a picture of what it feels like, take a couple of deep breaths, feel how there's no place for anxiety in this environment. Feel how there's no place where confidence can't live, where a sense of control, a sense of being proud of yourself, a sense of healthy pride can live in it. It's one simple thing, but it doesn't mean it's easy. How do we make simple easy?... There's no trying to honor the season. You either are honoring it or you're not. So what if I told you this? What if I told you that if you feel stuck or if you feel like life isn't working out in the way that you planned it to be, that it's not a failure? It's actually just a season that you need to honor. And actually not even that you need to honor, that you get to honor if you don't want to get sick. Because anytime that we need to do something or we should do something, there's a shaming energy there. So what am I saying? In this podcast, we're going to go over resistance to the seasons, what the seasons are, how to align yourself and really how you can use the wisdom of these seasons to live your dream, right? Which is the title of this video of this podcast. So let's start with the winter season. Winter season, we're in it right now. And I don't know about you, Mar, but I love winter. It's actually really fun to get cozy and like be by a fire and I can wear warm clothes. It's cool. I really like it. Some people just live in Hawaii and they're like, I skip all the shitty seasons. I just want to live on an island, you know? But not all of us. Okay, so you like to surf, but surfing in cold water is pretty fun and there's there's there's beauty in the winter. I feel like winter season is teaching us something to when not just as a season, but also the temperature of winter, which for me, I've been avoiding it my whole life. I was always like, no, I'm never gonna live somewhere that's cold. Right now where I live, it gets chilly, but it's not as cold, like there's no snow or anything. But even surfing in cold water, it teaches you a lot. So sometimes I have moments when I feel cold and I start sort myself to feel warmer. But when I do it, I feel like I tell my body, I'm cold and you need to get out. And I started noticing there are certain behaviors and kind of like unconscious things that I do that make me feel even colder. And so when I stopped doing that, and I stopped focusing on the cold, and I just let it be cold, and just, it's just a sensation in the body. It doesn't really mean that much. It's just discomfort. And when I just let it be, it feels like I can just let go and be in the cold, like accept the cold for being cold and not being bad. Yeah, I remember when I used to surf, I would get cramps in the cold and that would be my cue to go in, which is funny because we're going to talk about winter, which is inward. So life has these seasons and I love the seasons because they each bring us unique wisdom. I actually learned about these seasons from Anahata Ananda in Sedona in 2018. And the Native American culture has the seasons that they honor with behaviors and foods and also the medicine wheel, which is a profound concept of just like walking the medicine wheel to get true on what's real for you. And so if life, just like nature, moves in seasons, the winter, spring, summer, fall, how can we look at nature and design our life the way we think and the way we behave so that nature is actually this beautiful teacher for us... [19:45] Fall Season So there's foods that we can consume during the seasons that are in harmony with nature. And then there is ways of being or ways of thinking. So summer is like, get to it. Summer is when you want to take action. Now, when it comes to fall, fall is really interesting because the trees start changing color. There's this premonition of what's coming, which is winter, right? The cold is coming, the winter is coming. So it's about preparation. It's about, okay, what have I done this year that's so amazing I can actually reward myself. I gave myself gratitude in the summer. I learned what worked and what didn't work. Now how can I actually reap the rewards of all of my efforts? How do I bring in the harvest? How do I bring in the squashes, the pumpkins, the zucchinis? How can I eat these foods that are so beautiful in the fall that actually are in the wisdom of nature because they grow so plentifully, right? They're just out there for everyone to harvest. That's why the harvest time, Thanksgiving, and whether you're in alignment with Thanksgiving or not from a political standpoint is none of my concern. But really what I think Thanksgiving is, is like honoring the harvest. We've worked through winter, we've worked through spring, now we're in the summer, then we're in the fall. Like we've worked a lot. And so in the fall, it's actually this preparation for the inward time. So here's something actionable that's on the screen right now. Take time to express gratitude and reflect on what is really working for you that worked in the summer and what are the lessons that you learned by supporting yourself with people that loved you by learning the people that didn't have your best interests in mind? What's the wisdom that's wanting to come through in the fall? What's your favorite fall food to eat? What do you love to eat in the fall when the leaves change? Pumpkin soup. I think that's good. Yes, it's amazing. It's like the most comforting, delicious food is so healthy and warm. I think that's like the full, the full meal. I love it. And then when we eat these foods, it actually brings us closer to nature. If we didn't have grocery stores, have you ever thought about this, Mar? If we didn't have grocery stores that brought us like avocados in the winter and raspberries in the winter from like, you know, Peru or wherever they're coming from to the United States, we wouldn't be eating these foods. So there is something to pay attention to here in the wisdom of Native American culture to honor the seasons of your life and to honor the foods that match those seasons. Listen To Episode 703 As Josh Trent Answers Your Questions [02:50] Stop Lying to Yourself: The Root of Self-Sabotage Let's get to the question because it's a question from you, which I love your vulnerability. I love that you're actually sharing something that's human that you struggle with self-sabotage to and procrastination. Well, you said it, almost everybody struggles with this. And since we're in a new year and it's a new beginning, I think it's the best opportunity for us to actually look into this topic. So my question is: Why do we keep lying to ourselves? Why do we keep procrastinating on the goals and the dreams that we set to achieve, even though they matter so much to us, and we've really, really want this so bad, but we still don't get ourselves work and push through the discomfort and get out of the comfort zone and actually achieve that. It's so good. So thank you for being vulnerable and sharing what most people deal with, but they haven't developed the courage yet to say. Let's start with this. Let's start with a story because I love stories and it's how we learn. In 2014, I was deep in a pornography addiction. I hadn't experienced any plant medicine. I was really at a low point in my life. And in the span of 6 months, I broke up with a woman I thought I was gonna be with. I put my mom in a mental home and I got fired from a quote safe corporate job. Wow. It was like a reckoning for me. And I had been sitting on this idea of having a podcast for like 3 years. For 3 years, I was like, should I do it? Should I not do it? I was procrastinating. And here's why It wasn't until I got my ass kicked so hard self or by the universe that I was forced to look at the honesty of my life because of pain. I knew I didn't want what was around me anymore. I knew I didn't want the fruits of my life anymore, but I just simply did not know how to change. And let's be honest, I was procrastinating for 3 years, playing the safe route, because A, I didn't know really how to love myself. B, I wasn't surrounding myself with the kind of people that could actually fuel the productive side of me. And actually I was hanging out with people on the procrastination side of me. And then C, I didn't experience enough pain yet to really change from. Like I have to clear my throat because it's interesting. My throat chakra is getting blocked right now. It's because I'm reflecting on that time when I didn't trust myself to speak and express with authority and with conviction. I hadn't earned it yet. I hadn't earned the right to do what you and I are doing right now. And so for all of us that are dealing with procrastination, let my story be a starting place for you in whatever phase story that you're in. What is something in your life that every night when you put your head on the pillow, you know that you get to do differently yet you're not doing it? And how much torture and pain does that cause you on a daily basis? Because let's be real, Mar, we're not gonna change habits unless there's enough friction. I'm reading a book right now called Atomic Habits by James Clear. And he says that friction, the more friction that you have, the harder it is to do a behavior, the harder it is to change. So we actually need so much friction that it becomes so exhausting that we finally do the thing that's causing us the friction we've been resisting. In other words, the friction or pain has to be so high that we finally take an honest look at the story that we're creating that's making us not do the thing that we know we want to do. This struggle that I had was severe and it really didn't come from laziness. A lot of times procrastination can be laziness perceived, but what's deeper. Cause you know, on the podcast, we always explore like the cover emotion or what's being presented as the cover, the real story, the real stuff, the real beliefs are always much deeper. Procrastination isn't laziness. It's fear. It's fear in disguise. It's like perfectionism is like fear a jacket. Well, procrastination is like fear looking away. It's seeing what's possible for us And it's developing the courage or kowtowing to the cowardice that blocks us from achieving it, from doing it... [12:00] What Is Your Dream? What is your dream? How much work have you spent really crafting and cultivating the clarity on your dream? And then now that you have clarity on your dream, does it align with your core values? Do your core values mirror your dream? Then once you have that built, then you can start going to work on the behaviors. But until we get to the bottom of the bottom of the ocean inside of ourselves, core values, dream setting, and purpose, then nothing can really move forward from there. It's almost like a lead weight that pulls us back. Has anybody ever felt this? You know exactly the thing that you want, but potentially when you really feel into it, you either don't feel worthy of it, you feel like it'll be too hard, or you might have a narrative that comes up that says, well, who am I to do this? Who are you Mar to have this audacious dream? Who are you Josh to have a podcast and try to reach millions of people? Well, the difference between the result of the dream being real and the result of the dream being just a dream is inspired action. Inspired action is the winner of the game. But in order to be inspired, you have to have clarity on why you're doing it in the first place. So I wanted to say that because the punchline here is you mentioned it was about safety. And the safety that you're rubbing up against is that you might be judged. And it goes into some very ancient wiring too, right? Because in your brain and all of our brains, there's an amygdala, and that amygdala is actually wired for tribal connection. So it makes sense that by you having a dream of going to the gym, that that dream might be fought against by the projection of others potentially judging you. Am I on the right track? Like you might feel judged or it might feel unsafe or uncomfortable? Yeah. And now there's actually a new excuse that I made, which is I don't want to join the gym in January so that people think that I'm 1 of the resolution people who decided to join the gym in January. That's how crazy it is. All right, cool. So just noticing the stories that we make is really big. And it goes back to the clarity of and the word to use right now is actually identity. One of the courses that I'm building out in the curriculum for Liberated Life is called Wellness Identity. It's an identity that you show up as regardless of your thoughts or your external circumstances. And the thing that's really cool about identity is that we're all identifying as something, whether we know it or not. And so if I identify as a self-regulated, emotionally regulated, authentically expressing, abundance sharing man, because that's in alignment with my game, that actually Mar, you and I got clarity on, right? We got clarity on our game. And our game is actually our dream. It's the same thing... [21:00] Your Dream Is Far Greater Than Any Crisis Procrastination never comes in because you're so clear on your identity of who you are, what you stand for, and how you're being of service to the world that no one and no thing can get in your way. That's why in the studio, on the wall, I have the quote, my dream is far greater than any crisis, and above it is because it reminds me to nourish the 5 sides of me so that I can have this conviction around my purpose and dream and so that my identity feels real in my body so I can actually be it and live it and eat sleep and shit everything that my dream is (pardon my French) so that's the beautiful thing that you brought forth today is this consistent inspired action so this is what we do and this is the strategy for all of us. This is actually the most fun part. When we meet resistance, can we take a breath and just ask 1 question? Do I feel identified with this behavior or with this thing that I want to do in alignment with my dream? Do I feel identified with this thing I'm about to do or the thing safety is wanting me to sabotage? Can I look at this as an opportunity to reinforce or feed my identity with the clarity, dream, game, and vision that I know is real? And then just listen to what comes up. If you notice from the mind that there's a story running and it says you might be judged, you might be shamed, it might be uncomfortable, just say thank you. Hey, I appreciate, I appreciate you trying to protect me. That's cool. You've protected me for a long time. Thank you, protector. Get clear, usually through breath or through meditation or journaling, just something. Take a breath and ask. You can put your hands on your heart and you can say, is this something that an empowered feminine woman who shares her love and dreams with others does? Is this an embodiment? Is this something that an empowered, sharing of love and dream woman, feminine woman would do? And is this in alignment with my identity?

Hey Josh, I love the podcast and I've been doing everything I possibly can to grow my Wellness pentagon, but I keep hitting up against this roadblock when it comes to loving myself and believing in myself. There's a long line of depression and emotional health issues in my family and I just want to escape the cycles of it all once and for all how and where do I begin? What a great question. What a vulnerable question. If you listen to the AMA 699 that we did, and if you haven't, make sure you do. We talked about the number one mindset shift that you must have in 2025 around your beliefs and your barometer. And we touched on this and I'm so happy that Matthew, you asked this question today because it is the deepest work we'll ever do. It is the most potent work we'll ever do to love ourselves. But how do we actually do it? Self-love is looked at as selfishness, especially from previous generations, where let's be honest, they didn't have the affluence, the time affluence, the financial affluence that we are afforded with, where we can actually dive in to know ourselves. It's pretty amazing. I mean, we're so blessed. We're so incredibly blessed to be able to even practice self-love. It's something our ancestors didn't necessarily ever get to do because they were just stuck in survival. Yet, Here's the paradox. In 2025, self-love isn't selfish, it's about transcending survival. And it's the ultimate power move. Let me ask you this. Do you feel guilty when you put yourself first? When you fill your own cup, Do you have feelings of guilt or shame or a narrative in your mind that says, I shouldn't put myself first? I should be taking care of everything and everyone else before I put myself first. Well, what if I told you that all successful people prioritize putting themselves first and they do it without shame, guilt, or blame. Well, in 2025 we're going to unpack why this is so important to put yourself first and also why the world 2025 will demand more from you than ever before and if you don't fill your own cup you'll have nothing left to give. So first let's define self-love. Self-love is the capacity, the awareness, and the consciousness to take care of yourself, nourish yourself so that you can do that same thing for others. That's essentially what I believe self-love is. It's the consciousness, capacity, and awareness to care for you in all the different ways of the Pentagon so that you can then give that gift of caring and loving to others. That's what self-love is. Self-love is not just bubble baths and candles, right? Self-love is about boundaries. It's about self-respect. It's about doing the inner work so you can actually the stigma that's been around for so long. This self-love has been labeled as this narcissistic or indulgent thing, but true self-love is actually the foundation for authentic relationships, career success, and mental health. Here's why. There are 3 key pillars for self-love... [14:15] Take Inspired Action Let's go into the actionable framework for 2025 that you can actually practice on a daily basis to become the best of you. The first one is having a morning ritual. It's a self-affirmation. It is a mantra. And the mantra I'd love for you to say is put your hands on your heart and say: I am worthy of the love I give to others. I am worthy of the love I give to others. Say it over and over and over again until you believe it. I am worthy of the love I give to others. Say it over and over and over again until you believe it. I am worthy of the love I give to others because, in that mantra, you're reinforcing on an unconscious basis that you're giving it to yourself. You can't give anything to anyone else that you don't hold, right? You can't give wisdom to someone else that you haven't earned. You may be able to regurgitate it, but people are gonna feel in their esoteric nervous system and in their enteric nervous system and in their unconscious nervous system, and their automatic nervous system, that it's just not true. In other words, we can tell when somebody hasn't embodied something that they're sharing. So even if it's wisdom given from a messenger, the wisdom won't land, the wisdom won't hit and be embodied unless the person themselves has done the work to embody it. Second practice, I want you to say no for 1 week. Say no for 1 week. Say no to anything or anyone for 1 week that drains your energy. Energy vampires can be acknowledged by just doing this simple practice. When you hang out with someone, or when you consume content, or when you do anything at all, does it drain your energy? Do you have less energy when you're done? Or do you have more? Say no for 1 week. Just 1 week. Give it a practice. Say no for 1 week to anything or anyone that drains your soul, that takes away your energy. Watch how this transforms your mindset. Number 3, tactical. Schedule time for you. Put yourself on your calendar. I have a color-coded calendar where I have business and family and self and in-studio and remote. I really like color-coding. This is a great strategy for you to do this. So put yourself on the calendar like a meeting can't cancel. Don't cancel on yourself. Use this time to charge yourself. Maybe it's cold plunge, maybe it's sauna, maybe it's walking. It's typically going to be, I'll share with you, it's typically going to be a physical practice. A lot of our world is sedentary. So nourish yourself with time on your that's color-coded so you can actually practice feeding you, feeding your body, feeding your heart and soul. Number 4, detox from comparison. In 2025, unfollow any accounts that make you feel less than, that make you feel like shit. There's no reason why you need to be following people or consuming content. Curate your digital space for inspiration, not insecurity. Have the awareness to know when something's making you insecure that you don't actually have to feed yourself with it. Just because you feel insecure about something means you have to keep banging your head against it till you feel secure. Security is an inside job, not an outside job. And number 5, in the tactical ways we can practice these skillsets, celebrate small wins. This is a big one for me. I've been so focused in my life on going to the next thing, going to the next thing, that I have lost track of celebrating my small wins. So for myself and everyone, keep a journal, like write in a journal where you're doing one thing that nourished you that day, one thing that you're proud of, celebrate it. It's not selfish. It's about transcending survival...
