The Ezra Klein Show
Each Tuesday and Friday, Ezra Klein invites you into a conversation on something that matters. How do we address climate change if the political system fails to act? Has the logic of markets infiltrated too many aspects of our lives? What is the future of the Republican Party? What do psychedelics teach us about consciousness? What does sci-fi understand about our present that we miss? Can our food system be just to humans and animals alike? Low keys
17/12/2024
It’s a stimulating show, one I manually refresh on my feed because I look forward to it that much. It’s my last remaining connection to The NY Times. I wish the theme music with the low piano keys had not been replaced with a new and unremarkable jingle. I’m telling myself the suits at the Times ordered that change not Mr. Klein.
Too many words
-2 j
His windups are overwrought and needlessly prolonged. He would impress more by cutting out 50% of the words.
Ezra’s views on AI
-2 j
In a recent opinion piece in the NYT Ezra states that AI is now capable of writing sophisticated computer code that only a few humans can emulate. This is complete and utter nonsense.
I don’t know how he has a job
-2 j
This is pablum. It’s not a challenging, novel, or poignant. It’s the same story that every other outlet is working on pre-chewed for easy digestion. And it wasn’t even a good form of the same story. To see Klein win awards for his journalism makes me weep; not because I’m certain he doesn’t deserve them, but because (in this media environment) he probably does.
