I just listened to The Ice-Shirt episode -- hosts Ryan and Jordan and their guest Sean take a deep dive into the first of Vollmann's Seven Dreams. It's a stunning work -- my very first Vollmann, read in the middle of a summer heat wave in the 1990s -- and they tease out the many qualities (including its ties to Norse literature) that make it the first true masterpiece in WTV's career. Worth the nearly three hours if you're a fan or are currently only Vollmann-curious.
