Professor Helen Heneghan has been specialising in treating the disease of obesity since 2016, has co-authored over 60 publications in peer-reviewed journals and has a very empathetic, as well as expert approach to helping others live happier, healthier, fuller lives. 

The conversation covers everything you may need to know on the topic of weight loss surgery, from the various forms, to pre and post advice, timelines, finance, and a bit of a wake-up call about the real cost (and implications) of travelling abroad for this, or any sort of medical procedure.

Season 2, Episode 9: John O’Regan; Part 1



My guests are usually from the worlds of health, beauty, hair, aesthetics and wellness, and this week we’ve sort of ‘massaged’ the criteria to stretch the wellness part to include fitness. Well, it is January afterall…  



Ultra-athelete John O’Regan has participated in some of the toughest, longest, most challenging events in the world. I say running, but when you’re trying to cover 250 km over sand dunes, or some other crazy distance across the Antarctic, it’s a different kettle of fish. 



John has so many incredible stories to tell of his experiences… of being self-sufficient for a week covering 250km in the dessert… of mind-bending 24-hour races where competitors just circle a 400-metre running track over and over and over… And yet, John has huge empathy and understanding on how to get running… how to complete that first 5k… how to build a passion with running and how to improve performance, literally from a standing start.



So, if 2024 is the year you’re thinking of lacing up your trainers, or the year you’ve signed up for something that’s slightly terrifying you… you’ve come to the right place, to listen to the right man.



This conversation was so good, and covered so much ground (bad pun not intended), myself and producer Fergh actually lost track of time. But rather than cut it short, we’ve decided to make it a two-parter. Both parts have plenty of stories and anecdotes from life – quite literally – in the extreme lane, as well as plenty of tips to get you up and moving, or moving faster. Whichever. Or both!

He’s talented, he’s brave and he’s an incredible guy with the most lovely way about him… the sort of energy and person you really want to be around…  and I’d say all of these qualities, in equal parts explain why he’s now a regular, backstage at some of the biggest Fashion Week shows, both couture and ready-to-wear.



Roy tells us exactly how he worked his way up the ladder, what it takes to break in to the international scene and what really goes on backstage. We also talk trends, hero products the tools he can’t live without and some great advice for brides on the prep journey.

Maddi Cook, is a British-born hairstylist who, over the past few years has carve a niche for herself helping others. 

As industry, hair and beauty pros are rotten at charging enough for their incredible services… in a bid to please, they sacrifice profitability, as well as time, work-life balance, lunch breaks, any breaks and appropriate amounts of self-care, as they trot from day-to-day on a crushing hamster wheel.

Well, with her Boss Your Salon initiative, Maddi is changing this, offering a whole host of free tools, podcasts, and online seminars – her Boss Your Salon with Maddi Cook Facebook Group which was the kernel for all of this, now has 30,000 members and is an incredible resource. And then of course, Maddi has her more specific courses and one-to-one coaching products.

Maddi is the big sister everyone who’s self-employed needs. Like, she talks sense in a smart, non-preachy way. She’s the wake-up call we all need to get off the treadmill, think a little bit more strategically, and above all else, stop settling!

Season 2, Episode 6: Dr Emma Cunningham

These days, aesthetics clinics are two-a-penny. There are on almost every street corner, and a lot of them offer the same things. To stand out you need to offer something really special – something ahead of the crowd. 

And that’s how Dr Emma caught my eye.

Diving her time between three clinics, north and south of the boarder, yes Dr Emma does all the things you’d expect – injectables, lasers, needling, peels, IV drips… but that’s just the beginning. She also employs specialist consultants to offer female health clinics, specialist peri and menopause clinics, medical weight loss clinics, men’s health clinics, vasectomy clinics and pelvic floor physiotherapy. And I get the impression that’s just the start. 

It comes from Dr Emma’s interest in looking beyond a face, or a wrinkle, or a blemish, to understand the human inside…
