An Athletic Attitude - Episode 8

Adventures in SLIGHTLY Above Average Parenting

An Athletic Attitude- What does it mean to be a good sport? What do we project when our kids are watching and hearing us at their sporting events. We talk about what and how we should and could be projecting onto them. Win or lose it is how you play and end the game. @bondingwithabook - Wonder-August (Auggie) Pullman was born with a severe facial difference that, up until now, has prevented him from going to a mainstream school. Starting 5th grade at Beecher Prep, Auggie wants nothing more than to be treated as an ordinary kid—but his new classmates can’t get past his extraordinary face. Wonder begins from Auggie's point of view, but soon switches to include the perspectives of his classmates, his sister, her boyfriend, and others. These voices converge to portray a community as it struggles with differences, and challenges readers, both young and old, to wonder about the true nature of empathy, compassion, acceptance, friendship, and—ultimately—kindness. Parenting Toolbox Suggestion- Care Bags- Paper bags filled with kindness items for those less fortunate. You and your child spend time together gathering items, including a drink and a snack that your child things MUST go in it, and items that will help in the person's overall care. Place a note or sticker on the bag. Keep in the car and share it with someone in need. Everyone wins =) Need to find us on a specific platform- https://linktr.ee/MaxsMom
