Episode 12

On this episode something I found interesting and didn’t know before is the fact that different cells for example hair and bone divide at different rates like bones taking longer and hair being daily. This makes me think if maybe in advance medicine we can find a way to slow down certain cells process therefore create an anti aging chemical or medicine which will prevent illness. I also learned that chemo therapy kills all cells not just one. Which makes sense for the symptoms such as hair falling out.

In episode 12 I learned that when a cell isn’t going through division it’s called interphase and how there are four stages in the interphase stage called G0,G1,S,and G2. In episode 13 I learned that diffusion is the movement of a substance and osmosis is the movement of water. This really helped me understand the difference of osmosis and diffusion.
Epithelia Tissue

Loved !! I learned they are also the major tissues in glands. Epithelial tissues have a variety of functions, including providing physical protection, controlling the permeability of the surface that they line, provide sensation, and produce specialized secretions depending on their location.

Thank you for this podcast. This episode was particularly helpful in reviewing chapter 1 for my first exam. I also enjoyed the background music and the end comment, “You crazy cocktail of atoms.”
