CRITICISM - how it stops us from doing our greatest work.  Here I talk about why criticism stops us from doing our greatest work and how to handle it.

My husband Drew received HARSH criticism back in the 1990's when he started a new way of painting surfboards.  I talk about how that ended up, 30 years later.

Recently he received criticism from cruel people when he shared his Near Death Experience on a popular Podcast (HERE).  Mostly about his "Clint Eastwood" voice (it will never be the same after being on a ventilator for 3 months...)

When someone is criticizing you, it comes from one of two places:

1 - they know more than you and it's a gift that you can learn from

2 - they are trolling you and they don't know what the "f" they are talking about!

Have you been "ripped off" (unpaid) by a client that you did work for?  Here I share how to AVOID being stiffed by a client after you did the work.  And I have a suggestion as to how to handle it if it happened to you.

An artist brought me this question after she painted a wall mural and the client would not pay her.  This happens more often than you can imagine.  That's why I never start a mural project without 50% up front and I do not leave the mural site until it's paid in full.  And, proper communication up front, with written emails/texts showing client approval along the way, avoids this, as I share in this episode.

I give up! The other day I got so discouraged, because marketing for my courses and my Art Academy https://www.brophyartacademy.com/art-business just isn't working, after making a large investment.

After sleeping on it, I realized that I was trying to do things the way that other people were telling me to do them.  But that did not work for me.  It was out of alignment with my own way of working and my own values.
