AALP 251 – Choosing Financial Independence with Chris Mamula

Choosing Financial Independence with Chris Mamula

Chris Mamula is an expert on choosing financial independence. He used principles of traditional retirement planning, combined with creative lifestyle design, to retire from a career as a physical therapist at age 41. After poor experiences with the financial industry early in his professional life, he educated himself on investing and tax planning. Now he draws on his experience to write about wealth building, DIY investing, financial planning, early retirement, and lifestyle design at Can I Retire Yet? Chris’s writing has been featured in MarketWatch, Doughroller, Business Insider and RockStar Finance. He is also the primary author of the forthcoming book Choose FI: Your Blueprint to Financial Independence.

Chris’s story begun when he and his wife made a plan to pay off her student debt while living solely on her income. After they successfully paid it off, they started to wonder if they needed a different strategy if they wanted to start a family. So he went down the financial learning rabbit hole and while it changed his life, he realized a lot of it didn’t resonate with him. His book, Choose FI, is the product of him wanting to give a different perspective.

During our conversation you will learn:

-What does it mean to be financially independent

-The stages on Chris’ process to get financial freedom

-The importance of knowing what makes you happy

-How saving early can change the rest of your life

A wealth of inspiration!

So happy I found this vast array of conversations on all things abundance. Thought-provoking dialogues cover life-essential topics that it’s good to think about on a regular basis, like investing, sales, marketing, networking, self-care, spirituality, mindfulness and more. I look forward to hearing what's next as well as diving in to the juicy archives!

DebPurcell ,

A must for the WHOLE approach to wealth!

Leisa has mastered the bridge between the practical and the interpersonal connection to create wealth and a life of abundance. I've never known anyone that could connect the inner work and the outer experience with such skill and insight until hearing Leisa. She has truly uncovered the "missing piece" that is absent in other finanical and wealth coaching material.
