Your Road to Personal Addiction Recovery
Heroin and opiate prescription pain medication addiction is a massive health problem that is pandemic and now threatens an entire generation of young people, aged 21-35, their families and their friends. From 2009 to 2013, Arizona deaths from heroin and prescription opiates (Percocet, Oxycodone, hydrocodone, etc) overdose have doubled and now claim the life of almost two young people per day. Nationally, more deaths now occur as a result of drug overdose than from automobile accidents. Dr. William Nelson has an ambitious goal of turning the tide of this horrible problem by cutting overdose deaths nationally by 50% in the next five years. There are a myriad of challenges that need to be accomplished in order to making such a huge impact on this overwhelming societal health problem. These challenges will be covered in a monthly show entitled, “Your Personal Road to Addiction Recovery.” The topics included in the program will include: education and prevention, public drug policy and drug laws, economics of drug industry and detox and rehab centers, latest advances in heroin and opiate addiction treatment, in-patient versus out-patient withdrawal and treatment, counseling and inner personal work for improved long term sobriety, impact of addiction on family dynamics, and other pertinent topics as they arise. Please tune in to this program and invite everyone you know that is personally affected by this overwhelming problem. Chances are, everyone you know has been personally affected or knows a friend, co-worker, or neighbor that has lost a loved one due to death by overdose. Dr. William Nelson is a nationally known expert, achieving great success in the treatment of heroin, opiate, and alcohol addiction, especially in cases where patients have failed with previous conventional treatment approaches. Dr. Nelson is a licensed Naturopathic Medical Doctor and has 20 years of experience combining the latest advances in medical science with time-honored natural therapies for optimal patient outcomes. He is the Medical Director of National Addiction Services treatment center in Scottsdale, AZ. For more information see www.naltrexpellet.com or facebook www.facebook.com/strength2overcome

The range of topics is amazing and really helpful covering the range of ways an addicted person or one just wanting to change can move forward. In Episode 100 "abuse" vs "dependence" August 2018 pod, however , they talk about "dry drunk" as continuing to crave but that is not right. Here is how the term (which is a bad one) is normally used: “dry drunk syndrome,” us a slang term that originated in Alcoholics Anonymous (AA). It refers to traits and behaviors often seen with alcohol use that persist into recovery. In other words, someone who’s sober might still “act drunk” or deal with the same issues that led them to quit drinking in the first place. It often occurs as part of a broader condition known as post-acute withdrawal syndrome (PAWS). Dr. Nelson and his partner on the pod correctlyl say that all labels are limiting and should be abandoned in favor of more descriptive terms. Pink Cloud would be another one. This pod is fantastic! Pick and chose the episodes you need! The descriptions and info section on itunes really helps. Thanks Dr. N!
